Umm dudes, I love the Myst saga and all (Myst I II III V)

but....

was Myst V just a LITTLE TOO FREAKING SHORT

I mean c'mon it took me under 10 hours (including breaks, and playing with the one-four pedestal for two hours)

Not Impressed.

Looked pretty. I love Rand McNally and whatsisface but..

WHERE's THE CHALLENGE?????

I admit that some of this... angriedness has to do with me wondering how the freaking hall a game of 4GB can give so little, (okay, I understand with the four different languages and such but...

WHERE THE HILL DID MY GAME GO

Obvious characters plot twists (though they were delicious)

but...

Less playing time than the original MYST

WTF????

Did I completely miss a whole section?

Oh wait

YES

I did.

It happened when I started trying to guess ridiculous ways out of the four ages (you know, the tablets) just to see what would happen.

Albeit, it took me about three hours to figure them out

HOWEVER

On the Moon age, I input a symbol that is in the main hall, and it interprets it as the FInal symbol.

On the Island age( the wind one), I drew a rendition of a solar eclipse, lo and behold I get the third symbol (I had got 1/2/3) and then the final symbol is pathetically neurotic)

On the island age with the rain.... wtf the final symbol was Esher's puzzle... I GUESSED that (mainly cos I couldn't figure out how to get past the rock)

The Ice age was the only one I did good and proper....which had 'puzzles' so childish and tedious it was done in the bat of an eye.

And so, as I said with ExILE.

All too easy.

Just wish there's been some content.

And I f this get's e3's adventure game award...then the adventure game category must be poor poor indeed.

THank you. I shan't post in frustration again, but I do look forward to your behumoured replies.

3-endings-"the fate of th D'ni rests in your hands" my eye.
(what does that mean anyway?)

Floptical regards,

TcheQ

...this is one of the guys in accounting, right? No, seriously...

Umm...Rand McNally makes maps. Rand Miller makes Myst games.

I actually spit Pepsi onto my 19" monitor reading "Floptical Regards", my new way of signing email, and if it dies you owe me a new one. ROFL

Your points are well taken and you chanced upon a major bug. More than that I can't say since I have to go get a tissue to wipe my eyes.

Floptical regards,

Ok, I've recovered and decided you need a decent explanation: The slates are too forgiving at times and bone-headedly obtuse at others, meaning that you should not write random glyphs on them unless you want strange things to happen. Unless you have seen the symbol in the game and it is painfully obvious what you should do, refrain.

The age you finished is pretty easy. The others are not and you should go back to a saved game and replay the others for a much better experience. The game isn't perfect and is a bit too short, but not as truncated as yours must have been.

Floptically yours,

I also feel that the game was:

"ALL TOO EASY"

"The end has not yet been written..."
