No, it WAS the good ending -- I can see now I've done them all. I didn't give the slate to Yeesha, I dropped it on the floor in front of her. My trouble was the good ending started replaying before I could get to the book and go back to the island save. Anyway, I managed to do it eventually and have gone through all the alternatives. My word, Esher got CROSS
