Hello, I started Myst 5 on noboben and I got to the part where u stand on the tree and the door melts. I have not used a walkthrough because I was pretty sure I knew what do to (Draw the symbol of the pedastol on top of the house onto the slate), but that does not work. I checked walkthroughs and posts for just this part, but everyone says draw the pedastol symbol onto the slate. When I do that the bahro rub their heads and leave the slate. Am I doing something wrong?

Two different issues here.

First of all, any time the Bahro scratches his head when looking at a symbol you've drawn it means he doesn't recognize it, so you need to try to improve your drawing and make it more accurate.

Second, it sounds like you don't quite have it figured out how to open the door. You've figured out that when you stand on the tree symbol up top it opens the door, right? In other words, it is triggered by weight on it. So then you might want to figure out a way to get something similar to your size and weight to stand on it. Hmmmm. Do you remember reading/hearing about the Bahro and the Snake symbol?

I know the first part about him scratching his head, and that is what is confusing me. I've drawn the waypoint (or pedastol) symbol for under the laboratory and on top of it many times. And I never get a direct link with the slate. I tried it on taghira too, and to get out of the cave my symbol looked nothing like the one on the pedastol. And i know u gotta get a bahro up on there with the snake symbol thing. The snake symbol works i've tried it, but i can'\t get the slate up because of the pedastol.

Wow. I just found out another weird thing. I got out of the cave in Taghira without failing through the ice. On the ground in the main chamber, there was a picture. I drew it and it linked me to the second waypoint. The picture looked nothing like the waypoint symbol though. I didn't think anything of this, but I was looking at this walkthrough http://www.gamesover.com/Myst_5/Taghira.htm to see if they had the same thing, but they fell through ice. I dunno whats happeneing. I swear to god i linked out of the cave by way of the second linking point, by a picture drawn on the ground.

Could it be possible that the game has some randomness to it? Has anyone else had these problems or is it just me, cause this is weird.

If you do some reading on the forum you'll discover that others have had some weird happenings with the slate and the ice in Taghira, but lets keep to your issue at hand in Noloben on this thread, ok?

You're not making a lot of sense. You say you understand that when the Bahro scratches his head it means he doesn't recognize the symbol. So if you understand then it's really simple: your drawing isn't accurate enough so you need to keep trying it and make it accurate.

Do you have any additional symbols besides the home one showing up on your slate/pedestals at all?

Yeah I have one other showing up, and that is the one under the lab. It shows up in the bubble, but not on the slate. Like I said, I tried the drawings a bunch of times, and they are very accurate, but on every age i try to do drawings for the pedastols they don't work. The only one that has worked was the Taghari weird one I told you about, but i didn't draw the shape on the pedastol but rather another symbol. None of the stuff I draw works except the weather symbols. And for instance on Taghira there is a anchor symbol. I am 100% sure I drew that perfectly accurate, but it still doesn't work.

Alright, well I restarted the game and it works now. I dunno what happened but I guess it was fixed with restart. Thx for the help anyway.
