I've read all the forum discussions on how easy Tahgira is, and I believe most of it to be true.
However, I have drawn the symbol in the Keep more than 50 times, the Bahro takes the slate, places it down on my side of the chasm, then reappears awith it on the Keep side and disappears with it. But when I link back to the pedestal, the symbol isn't there! The blank slate is, asnd I start the process again and again ad infinitum. I'll admit i'm no Picasso, but I can draw a decent set of rectangles with a mouse. What am I doing wrong? Can I go backwards and reset this part of the age? Thanks for all your help. Best regards, Jesse. |

If the Bahro takes the slate to the keep, you must have drawn the Keep symbol correctly - otherwise it would scratch its head in puzzlement and leave the slate where you dropped it. But it should deposit the slate in the Keep and leave it there.
Since this doesn't happen, it might be a good idea to go back to a saved game - each time you take a picture with your camera, you create a saved game. Open your diary/photo album to view your pictures and go back to a saved game. If you don't have a saved game to go back to, you should probably start from scratch. If Tahgira is the first age you've visited, that shouldn't take too long. Remember to take pictures from time to time. |

Thanks Vogelaar! But I'm still having problems.
I returned to a restored game, then resetting all the valves and walking into the graveyard and running into Esher. I drew the graveyard symbol, put it down, then picked it up from the graveyard pedestal. I carried it over towards the Keep, where it broke away. I drew the Keep's symbol, put it down and walked one step towards the pedestal. The Bahro picked it up and appeared to put it down on the other side of the pedestal. I then did two different things: 1) Returned to the Ice Cave and all but the Keep's symbol were there. I restored the game to when I carried the slate to the edge of the chasm and 2) Drew the Keep symbol, put it down and walked away one step towards the pedestal. The Bahro appeared as usual, picked it up and placed it down on the other side of the chasm. Instead of repeating #1, I waited until the Bahro reappeared, picked up the slate on the Keep side and disappeared with the slate. I then returned to the Ice Cave and the symbol was still not there. I rechecked where the Bahro put it and it was on the pedestal outside the hut near the valves. Why did it go there? I did everything correct, even downloading two walkthroughs and checking this part of the game and it's still not working. (The walkthroughs were not too descriptive here, but I did everything the walkthroughs mentioned - the same as what I have been doing all along.) Best regards, Jesse. |

If the Bahro deposited the slate on the pedestal near the hut, it has interpreted the symbol you drew as the symbol for that pedestal, not the symbol for the Keep. If you draw the Keep symbol correctly, the Bahro should take the slate to the Keep and leave it there, not return to remove it again. If you draw the Keep symbol incorrectly, the Bahro should NOT take the slate to the Keep, even temporarily. It should either scratch its head and leave the slate where you put it, or take it back to the Bubble, or take it to another pedestal if it interprets your symbol as the symbol for that pedestal.
So I don't understand what is happening to you, sorry. |

That is strange...
If the Bahro takes the slate to the Keep, he is supposed to leave it there. And if he takes it to the Keep, that means you drew the correct symbol and it should now appear with the others on the first pedestal. You must be experiencing a strange bug... What happens if you begin the game again? Taghira is the first age... it shouldn't take you very long to get there again. Keep us posted on your progress. ------------------------ This space has been intentionally left blank. |

I'm having the exact same problem described by jlodico in the original post. I realize this thread is a bit old, but I'm hoping somebody will read this.
I have checked and double-checked the image dozens of times now and I know I'm drawing it as close to correct as possible, but the Bahro never does anything with it except scratch his head. This is really frustrating and its not the only drawing problem I have encountered. In the space age, I was trying to figure out how to simply start it and I drew a "tilted pacman" shape that I saw on a wall somewhere. Drawing that took me immediately to the end section of the age. Is there some cheat available to force the Bahro to recognize my drawing? |

Hi StinkyMatt,
No you will not find cheats on the Myst5 forums. And we will not talk about them over here. My suggestion would be for you to find and read similar posts in this spoiler forum like the ones found in this thread...click here There are no patch available, so the only solution is about the trials and errors method. You need to have good propertions and size for this symbol to work. Some had success by omitting the bottom horizontal line. (bottom rectangle) There is also the possibility for you to post a screenshot of your symbol so we can have a look at it. Here is an image of my drawing. Note that it is missing the lower small rectangle (buttom) |

Thanks for the response, I did finally manage to get the drawing to take. I think my strategy may help others so I'll share it. I found that drawing it as small as I possibly could and still make it look reasonably close seemed to help.
I'm only bummed that in trying to find a workaround for this I've inadvertently come across some spoilers for other puzzles and I've gone the entire myst series without a single hint until now. Kinda sours it for me :-( |

Congratulations! I hit so many walls in Riven and in Myst IV, I am now two-dimensional. I would really like to read an essay on their thought processes by someone who made it through either Riven or Myst IV without help. Whenever I replay the games, particularly Myst IV, I try to imagine how one could possibly solve some of those puzzles from the "clues" in the game, but still cannot figure it out. IMHO most of the real clues in Myst IV come after a puzzle has been solved, but not before. This message has been edited.
