Ok, here is what I did. I'm in the age: Laki'ahn and had just succeded in unlocking the cage. I went into the Arena and found out how to find the next pedestal. When I'd done that I quit the game because of dinner.
When I start the game again to resume where I last was, I start inside the pedestal and I can't move. This is so **** annoying, the last savegame I have, is 10 minutes into the game, I don't want to play through all the other ages again, so if anyone has a savegame in the beginning of Laki'ahn it would be very much appreciated if you could post it here.

I have experieced the same thing. I am caught in the pit where the elevator was. And I cant get out!!!

Try fix 3 under Stack Violation Error in Myst V: Main Branch & Stack Violation Error Fixes With Win XP.

If that doesn't help, re-install EoA from a clean boot, as detailed in Myst V: Clean Boot Install/Re-install With Win XP.

Same thing happened to me...quit the game at the Arena pedestal, pedestal is gone when I return, and I cannot move!! Had to restore a previous save and retrace my steps. This cries out for a patch! In the meantime, how about a warning to users: don't quit the game at the Arena pedestal!
