Being able to view and edit your Journal in a text editor is not a bad thing at all. I also found it very clumsy to have to flip all the Journal pages to get back to my last entry, especially since I was very thorough in my notes and pictures early in EoA, and documented everything that crossed my mind. But as the game wore on, my notes became more and more skimpy as I got tired of flipping pages; also because there was always a bit of lag when entering text into the Journal. I type pretty rapidly, so the slow key response in the Journal was rather annoying.
By the way, Uru's "Path of the Shell" also let us keep a journal, and saved it as an HTML doc. I routinely opened and edited my journal outside the game, and eventually posted its contents in the Uru forum along with some other players. Thanks Alahmnat, It works well, though I found using workpad rather than notepad made it easier to use, more screen friendly.
