OK I did some of the alternate endings, but I never got the credits to roll, After I give the slate away, I am stuckon MYST to just wounder, is this it or what? I thought that at the end of each MYST game the credits rolled to let you know its over. Is this a sick joke?

er no, your not supposed to be on Myst, you cant get back.... you cant even drop the slate there... go find Esher and die, then start over from your last save.

To Lose: Give the slate to Yeesha and watch her drop it or go to Myst and give it to Esher.

To win: Drop the slate in K'veer (i think thats where you are) step back (2 clicks in classic mode) a Bahro should come pick it up and the ending will start

good luck!

person1229 is correct(although im not sure you wanted the direct solution).
Since the answer is out, i might note that are actually four endings.
1. Give slate to Esher.
2. Give slate to Yeesha.
3. Give slate to noone.
4. Give slate to the Bahro. This is the correct option.
The purpose of this is that Atrus has in a way gotten over Myst and left it behind; an end of a chapter. As nostalgic as you might be to see Myst again(and in ruins as well Crying ) you are supposed to get over it and think about what Yeeasha and Esher have been telling you about the slavery of the Bahro. Although i never thought of giving the slate to Esher(he seemed so obnoxious from the beginning), i did give it to Yeesha. I dont think anybody discovered the "correct" solution from the first try.

I figured that as much, so giving it to yeesha or esher will trap you on myst and you get no credits, esher, wrote something on the tab and left, I never got killed or died, I can just roam around myst, knowing I am trapped, is there more? Am I missing something, I know I am missing 2 pages/books from yeesha, Like book 10 and 12 I believe is two on the bottom, but I looked everywhere for them, except the broken door with the broken switch.

Sorry to contradict you Leomag because a few of us who had played Uru, had already made up our mind way before Myst V came along. We only needed the opportunity to be able to do it.
P.S. give it to none= leave it on the pedestal.

No-one / pedestal is an Esher variant: go to Myst Island without the tablet.

Not exactly. If you try to give it to Yeesha, she simply refuses it and turns away. Remember that she once tried to use the tablet and failed, so giving it to her is pointless. If I remember right, if you try this you end up stuck in K'veer with Yeesha ignoring you. Maybe you can then link to Myst, I didn't try that.

I am back from a little experiment.
My thinking before trying was : what if I bring the golden slate to Myst Island but instead of putting it on the pedestal, I would drop it outside the library or on the floor inside?
What will happen when the Bahro comes and pick it up? Will I see a new ending ?

Sorry, this is a flat ending or a nothing ending. The Bahro never showed up and was left with nothing to do except to go on to one of the bad ending (slate on pedestal in the library)

To confirm what LEOMAG said - there is one "good" ending - the one with the positive ending to the story/game and the credits. You can get it only one way. After that there are two "bad" endings, which you can get at in slightly different ways.

I industriously saved before the final choice, so I could experience all the endings. I wanted the "good" ending, but I also wanted to see Myst Island, no matter how ruined. I would have liked a "good" ending where we would have gotten to see Myst Island, and also be able to wander around the ages, in game, after the game story ends. I guess that they just don't do that in games anymore, even games in the Myst series.

I also knew what the correct ending would be and wanted to see Myst Island, so I saved and went without the tablet and Esher chewed me out royally, like the 'You fool!' ending in Myst. I almost thought he would ask me for the donuts!* Then I went back and played the correct ending.

* This refers to a funny Myst easter egg that is well worth finding.

No, it is in RealMyst (the realtime 3D version of the first Myst game). You have to enter a special pattern in the fireplace in the Myst library.

See The Doughnut Egg (the site has info on lots of other goodies in RealMyst)

Can anyone tell me how I got the right answer the first time? I did not give the slate to Yeesha, and I never saw Esher, although I climbed the staircase. And then, I decided just to drop the slate in the bubble and bingo, I had Yeesha on her knees thanking me. All strange.
I want to give it to Esher to see what he does. How do I find him?

You have to go to Myst Island with the golden slate (2 possible endings) through the Myst book in Atrus study. Make a save game picture before deciding which ending you will choose, so that it will be easier to play the other "similar ending"(added this for the fussy tech. players. Wink2) Veryhappy

1- When you get there, you could drop it on the ground outside the library or

2- Put it on the special pedestal inside the library.

Hoping that it will do it for you. If you need more info, do not be shy. Veryhappy

Actually, i'm sure most people would have worked out not to give the slate to either Esher or Yeesha. I'd decided early on that I was going to free the Bahro. The problem came with actually doing it. You couldn't drop the golden slate by clicking anywhere upon its edge like the previous ones and so I assumed it couldn't be dropped. So I was just wandering around, expecting the Bahro to show up or something to happen. When it didn't I went to Myst because that seemed like the only option. I didn't expect the game to end there. I thought Esher would be there and there would be a tricky sequence of choices to make, similar to Saveedro at the end of Exile. Perhaps a showdown, culminating in my choice. I never dreamed that I would 'lose' the game simply by going to Myst. For a start, I didn't think the designers would have gone to the trouble of recreating Myst island (the most beautiful Age in the game, along with possibly Noloben) just for a 'bad game ending'. I mean it's kind of an unwritten rule that players should be most rewarded for getting the RIGHT ending. It doesn't follow that just because i'd gone to Myst it meant i'd decided to give the slate to Esher. I felt as though I was kind of tricked (by the game) into doing it. I wandered around Myst island for ages before putting it on the pedestal as I knew it was bad but eventually I realized that the game was giving me no choice.

I did like the irony however, of leaving the player stranded on Myst island , just as they were when they completed the first game successfully! (in the original version)

And you know, it was real sad seeing Myst island in ruins.

I undestood the 'moral' (leave the past behind, embrace the future) but I think it could have been done better. Everything (good and bad) should have been concluded on Myst.
