I learned how to create power and rotate the "cage". I teleported myself into that cage at each angle thinking one of them would help me advance. I can see that the canal continues on the far right, so that angle made the most sense. But I've swum in that disgusting looking water in that "section" and am still caged in. It would seem that a gate has to also open - finding the right angle isn't enough. What am I missing?

Hmmm. How can I see an arena? It is hard to see above the fence and big rocks. There is the one direction where the dancing bird creature and machine can be seen, and then there is rock and fence to the left and also to the right of that. I just rotated now and entered the section where I can see the dancing bird creature, but nothing. Doesn't a gate have to open too?

Did you not say that you have teleported into the cage to have a look ? What if a cage had a few missing bars and after being turned it would gave access to an opening ?

Thank you for your input Nanouk; my problem was making an assumption about the buttons. I thought the lever and the button on the left were solely for moving heights up and down, so I left them alone entirely (after finding just the right spot) and concentrated on only the right lever and button in working on the opening and putting it where I wanted it (but finding the right angle puts you only half way there. Phew - I found the arena.
