I bought the game edition in a book's shape. I played the game for about 30 minutes and Esher told me, "We are half they way through“?!! What most puzzled me in the game was, there were no puzzles at all.

I was on the Thagira age. I drew the first sign I saw and put the slate on the floor. A creature appeared and picked up the slate. I went the ladder up and there was my slate with a sign on it. I pushed the button and I finished the age... that was fast!

Nearly the same happened in the second age, Todelmer. I solved the puzzle to free the way up to the top. I used the telescope and saw the cable car on the other tower and a symbol with two numbers. The symbol was a 3/4 circle. I drew the circle and again a creature appeared. I went to the pedestal and pushed on the new symbol. I met Esher and he told me „We are half they way through". I finished that age too.
This must be a bug. To verify whether this is a bug or not I read some walkthroughs which spoiled my game experience!!!!!!!

Does anyone know what is wrong with my install or do I have to live with it?

Unfortunately, you have run into a bug in the game twice. If you draw a symbol on the slate that was not intended by the designers, it is likely to be interpreted as the final symbol for an age. In particular, the pacman-like symbols you encounter in Todelmer (the 3/4 circles) are not meant to be drawn on the slate (but it is very understandable that you did!)

I would recommend starting over, and be careful what you draw on the slate. End of Ages is not bug-free and relatively short, but there *are* puzzles and interesting things to see.

I think this is rather a mayor bug since the game is all about puzzles.

Anyway, I restart the game and will follow your advise. I have to give my brain some time to forget what I read in the walkthroughs to start the game as if it was new to me

Ok, I'm off and enjoy the world of Myst....
