Shorah!

As 2009 approaches, we are looking to you, the community, to give us input on Mysterium to help guide our planning efforts. To that end, we have posted a new survey to gather feedback. This survey will be open until November 16th. If you are interested in attending Mysterium next year, please take a few minutes and fill it out.

We are interested in your preferences for the date of Mysterium, ranked from most-preferable, to least-preferable. The results will then be scaled; to give the most-preferable votes more weight and the least-preferable the least weight. This will allow a more accurate picture of which weekend people prefer, and it will allow us to easily determine a second choice. Please be aware that the Mysterium Committee will do its best to schedule Mysterium for the most-preferred date, but that other factors such as cost and hotel availability may require us to alter our decision, in which case we will target the next most-preferred date.

Building on the success of Mysterium 2008, we are also seeking input on what you would like to see from Mysterium in the future. Keep in mind that not everything in this survey may be on the schedule for 2009, but knowing what direction you would like to take this convention will help us fine-tune our planning process and increase our focus.

To participate in this survey, please click here or visit the Polls page at Mysterium.net. Thank you in advance for your interest and participation.

From Capella, Wed. Jan 14, 2009

Hello members of the Myst fan community! The Mysterium Committee has a few announcements to make today.

First, we'd like to announce that a special Q&A session with members of Mysterium Committee, to be held on January 17th at 5pm Pacific Time (8PM Eastern Time, 11PM GMT). The Q&A session will be held in the stoneship.org IRC server and CyanChat relay, which can be accessed at http://rel.to/IRC/cyanchat.php

Next we'd like to talk about calls for submissions.

COSPLAY:
We'd like to encourage people to make and wear costumes based on D'ni characters, either a recreation of something seen in the games, or a personal interpretation of Myst-themed wear. Prizes will be had!

COOKBOOK:
Look for an announcement within the next two weeks as we begin to put together the first ever D'niverse Cookbook with your favorite recipes!

We've started planning some of the events that will happen at this year's Mysterium. Currently in the works is “What Would Atrus Build” 2; Marker Missions; Trivia; The Wolfie Memorial Water-coaster-park Extravaganza. Details on these events and more will come out as we approach the convention, so stay tuned for more event-related announcements.

I'd like to address a question that I know is pressing on the mind of many fans- what kind of involvement will Cyan have this year? We spoke to Rand about Mysterium in Spokane and he said "If we can, we will participate." Currently no plans have been made beyond that at this time, but we will keep you informed.

Mysterium 2009 Hotel Announcement- Sat Jan 24, 2009

From"Capella"
quote:
Shorah!

The Mysterium Committee is pleased to announce the hotel that will be used for Mysterium 2009. Due to the interest and attendance typically seen at Spokane Mysteriums, we have decided to use a different hotel this year that is closer to downtown and the airport, and which offers us more space and flexibility in organizing events and activities.
Mysterium 2009 will be held in the University District / Downtown Comfort Inn Suites [ Google Maps ]. (For those who like to use Street View, the hotel appears as the "Shilo Inn Hotel", as it was just recently bought by Comfort Inn.)

Booking should be done via the hotel's front desk at (509) 535-9000. Mention the Mysterium group to obtain our group rate and be booked within our room block. You may book a room for up to three days before and after the event using the Mysterium group rate. Rooms reserved under the group rate are $89/night plus tax for up to four occupants. AAA members and attendees in general are encouraged to check for the lowest possible rate; reserving this early may net discounted rates below the Mysterium group rate for individual travelers, but please be aware you will be booked outside of our room block.

Mysterium will be making use of the Pend O'reille ("pond-o-ray") Room on the 5th floor throughout the weekend. The registration desk will be open officially starting at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 30th. If you are arriving on Thursday, an unofficial registration desk will be open starting at 5:30 PM so that you can pick up your registration packet and more easily meet up with other attendees.

ROOM & RIDE SHARING
The Mysterium Committee once again plans to provide tools for attendees to make room and ride sharing plans with each other. More information about these tools will be made available in the coming weeks. As always, the Mysterium Committee is not responsible for your travel plans or those with whom you choose to room.

TRANSPORTATION
The Comfort Inn Suites offers a complimentary airport/Amtrak/Greyhound station shuttle, which operates 7AM to 11PM. Details for a local attendee-run "shuttle" for anyone needing transportation to or from any of these locations outside of these hours are still being finalized.

Mysterium 2009 Con Book & Cookbook Submissions

(A con book is a "Convention Book")
quote:
By Capella on Sun Feb 08, 2009
Shorah!

Because Mysterium is an event by fans, for fans, the Mysterium Committee is always looking for new ways to showcase the community's creativity at the event. To that end, we will, for the first time, be providing a con book for attendees at the convention. In addition to information about the weekend's events, we also want to add as much community content as possible. If you have a Myst- or Uru-related story or image you would like to share with the community, please send it to us using the submission form on this page.

In honor of Mysterium's 10th anniversary, we are also creating a Mysterium Cookbook, which will be sold online to help cover the costs of the convention. If you have a Myst, Uru, or D'ni-themed recipe (or even something that could pass as a Myst, Uru, or D'ni-themed recipe), please send it to us using the submission form on this page.

Both books will be full-color 8.25" x 10.75" glossy magazine-style booklets, printed using an on-demand printing service called MagCloud. The con book will be included in the cost of registration, and given to each attendee who pre-registers. A limited number of books will be available for walk-in registrants, so if you want to have a con book at Mysterium, we recommend pre-registering to ensure you get one.

The cookbook will be sold separately through MagCloud before and after the convention, and anyone wishing to obtain a copy of the con book can do so after the convention, when it will be made available at cost. Proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will be put toward the cost of the convention.

Submissions for the Mysterium 2009 Con Book and Mysterium Cookbook must be submitted by May 31st to allow sufficient time for publication. Guidelines for submissions to these books can be found on the submission forms on our website at Mysterium.net.

Shorah and greetings, Myst fans!

Mysterium weekend is fast approaching, and we're starting to ramp up for production of our first ever Mysterium Convention Book. In addition to the important convention-related stuff like the schedule, we want to feature as much community-created content as possible. If you have a short story, poem, painting, drawing, fan-created Age render, or D'ni-inspired food or drink dish, we would love to feature it in the convention book! Get it to us quickly, though, because the deadline for convention book submissions is May 31st! To submit your material, visit www.mysterium.net and click on the "Con Book Submissions" or "Cook Book Submissions" links at the top of the page.

You don't have to attend Mysterium to get a copy of the completed book, as we'll be selling them online after the convention, but we'd love to see you there! If you haven't already pre-registered to attend, please do so soon by going to the Mysterium website; the deadline for online pre-registration is July 1st. Online pre-registration is $15 for adults, a $5 discount off of the at-the-door price, and a convention book is included in the cost of registration.

Shorah and greetings once again fellow Myst fans!

Mysterium 2009 is just two months away! The Mysterium Planning Committee is gearing up for it, and we've got a boat-load of updates for you today.

T-SHIRTS Contest
First, we're pleased to officially announce our logo contest winners! Two of them, in fact! This years t-shirt designs are from the lovely and talented Jean Fioca, and the equally lovely and talented Claire 'Shoomlah' Hummell.
Jean created this year's front design, a lighthearted celebration of the 10th Mysterium ever.

Claire gives us the back design, a unique representation of all the Myst games to date. See if you can spot all the references!

Our t-shirts will be screen-printed this year. Because of this, we are taking pre-orders on shirts with registrations to get an accurate estimate of how many we need to print. As a result, if you want to ensure you get a shirt, we strongly recommend that you pre-register! Shirts are $14 each for Small through XL sizes (and $15 for XXL shirts). You can order your shirts by visiting the Mysterium website and pre-registering to attend here: http://www.mysterium.net/myste...online-registration/

Thank you to all our entrants, you make voting fun! All of this years entries can be viewed here: http://www.mysterium.net/myste...9/logo-contest-2009/

PRIZES
Once again, the Mysterium committee is reaching out to our talented community for Myst-themed items that can be given away as prizes at this year's events. Last year, people went home with limited edition Riven keychains, beautiful handmade books, and unique swag... what will we have for the attendees this year?

Please email eleri@mysterium.net to donate a prize. Thanks so much for helping make Mysterium happen!

Shorah and greetings, Myst fans!

Mysterium 2009 is just weeks away! We will be in beautiful Spokane, Washington this year, from July 30th through August 2nd, and are looking forward to seeing you there! If you are planning to attend, remember that online pre-registration closes on July 1st.

Pre-registration gets you $5 off the cost of admission (or $4 off for one-day passes), and ensures that you will receive a swag bag, a convention book, and a copy of the Mysterium Cookbook (we had such a positive response to both that we overflowed into a second booklet!). For an additional cost, you can also sign up to participate in the Silverwood Theme Park excursion on Sunday. If you plan on going to Silverwood, we strongly advise you to pre-register, as we need to provide a head-count for the picnic lunch 2 weeks in advance.

Finally, by pre-registering you can be sure to get a Mysterium 2009 t-shirt. We are screen-printing our shirts this year to reduce their cost to you, but we need to have an estimate for how many to print in advance. Only a limited quantity of each size will be available at the door, so if you definitely want a shirt, please pre-register!

To pre-register for Mysterium, you will need to create an account on the Mysterium website. Once you are logged in to your account, go to the Online Registration page (you can click here, or select the "Register Online" link in the mysterium.net sidebar) and complete the registration form. Pre-registrations can be paid using check or PayPal.

We are also pleased to announce that our room and ride sharing forum is back up and running, and is integrated into your Mysterium.net account! If you need a room, or a ride, or if you're willing to share yours with someone else, post in the Room and Ride Share page of the Mysterium 2009 section by going here.

If you have any questions or concerns about pre-registration, making payments or this announcement please contact us before July 1st! We are always happy and willing to discuss options with you.

Brought to you by the Guild of Messengers
