I feel so dumb, but I can't even make it through the opening screen. I see the book, I click on the book, but it won't open. What am I doing wrong?

The book won't open until the end of the game. Look for a lever to open a door.

If I can't solve this little puzzle maybe I should quit and play Chutes and Ladders! OK, I know there is supposed to be a lever on the opening screen, somewhere in that big room, to open a door. But dang if I can find it. Help please.

Walk up to each doorway and see if there's a handle on the door .
