I know what I have to do, but no matter how I attempt to grip the handle to raise it it doesn't work. I know this should be very easy that isn't a thought process but a physical process. Perhaps I am approaching it incorrectly. Anyone with some tips on how to raise the red weight and do it consistently.
Thanks

hello again Peteki,

I just replayed that puzzle for you and did a strange experiment at the same time. Here is my little walktrough,

1) Stand facing the red weight, freeze your pc screen with right mouse button, drop the slate to the floor ( do not move away ).

2) now you can practice until you are sastified with the results. You find the spot where your hand cursor opens to full hand ( on the handle of the weight at this time ), keep your left mouse button pushed in, and take the weight upward. Do this many times in a row to get the right feeling.

3) pick up the slate, go to the pressure plate, turn around so you are facing the red weight in the corridor, and draw your chosen symbol, make a save game, drop the slate down, and go to the red weight, ( the hand cursor open above the top of weight should work here ) lift it up, go to the rising columm and as soon as you get to second floor level, step off the column fast. You only have something like a second to do it.

4) The strange experiment was, instead of drawing a symbol, I wrote on the slate : stay on the plate one min. thank you.

And you know what, it did work !!! ( not a joke )

P.S. It did work once but I have not been able to duplicate experience since.

Symbol in book #7 is still the best

I just went through this puzzle today, and after reading other people's experiences, I get this strange feeling that the game does different things for different people. I thought I was on the ball by drawing a snake - it would keep the Bahro on the plate long enough for me to get off the elevator, and not only did it work (never even had to try the Yeesha symbol) but the elevator stopped and sat right there at the top - I could walk off leisurely. This is very strange.....

Mayby the Bahro decided to sit on the plate and eat his lunch. Too Happy

I wonder what kind of food they eat ? Roll Eyes

Snake and Sing serve different purposes.

Snake is to delay the bahro's return to a place for as long as possible, Sing is to keep the bahro in a place for as long as possible.

My problem with it is this: when I draw the symbol, drop the slate, raise the lever, walk to the elevator, nothing happens. I wait and wait. Apparently, I am "too close" to the slate for the Bahro to come to it. If I back off the elevator (still facing the slate), the Bahro comes. Then I get back on the elevator as quickly as possible. Then the Bahro leaves, and the elevator doesn't move. It doesn't matter what symbol I draw. I'm just too close for the Bahro to come, I guess.

Try dropping the slate as far away from the elevator as possible (past the lever)

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having the Bahro on the pressure plate? If I drop it off away from the lever, it is off the pressure plate.

Uri: drop the slate on the plate and immediately walk toward the elevator/platform. Don't stand there and wait for the Bahro.

At the moment, the only thing I can see is that you do not have the right symbol. From memory it should be the one in book #7. And as BulaRae mentionned, do not even turn aroud to have a look at the Barho. Go for the lever(weight) and run to the elevator. Wink2 or at least walk fast.

I have used different symbols and I wait ON the elevator. The Bahro doesn't come unless I step off the elevator in the other direction. Then I step back on as quickly as possible and nothing happens.

Make sure you're using the symbol for sing and not the snake.

Ok, I will try that again. Just curious, how did you chose that symbol?

Look in Yeesha's journal for symbols on tablets, then compare the shape of the tablet with the tablet shape for the age.

But why use that symbol here? I see no clue to use it.

As Mr Zebe D wrote, the shape of the drawing in the journal is a clue - the slate has a different shape in each age.
Apart from that, after trying things for a while it becomes clear that you need something here that will keep the Bahro occupied for a while. The friendship symbol only makes the Bahro stay a little bit longer, and the snake scares it away, so only the song symbol remains.

Just for completeness, uri, look at the tablet shape for the snake, then compare it with the tablet shape for Noloben.
