Just stated and need help. How to use the switch lever to open door, the switch moves, but nothing happens a little how to open door?

Philjer, are you grabbing the door handle or just clicking it? Grabbing requires that you press and hold the left mouse button. Hope this helps. Dave

The door in question I cannot open is one one Esher told me to open, by using the switch lever by it.

There are two doors. The switch for one of them (to the right of where you first entered this hall) is stuck, it only rattles when you try to turn it. The switch for the other one (to the left of where you entered, the one Esher pointed to) works, but you must pull it all the way to the right. Just touching it, or dragging it halfway is not enough.
