Minor spoiler...
I keep writing the symbol for the second pedestal on the slate and dropping it on the ground. When the Bahro show up, they either A) ignore it completely and leave it there, or B) take the slate back the the first pedestal. They are supposed to put it on the second pedestal so that you can then link to the second pedestal from the first.

Is this a bug? Or do I have to draw that symbol juuuust right? And, yes, I've rotated the platform correctly and opened the cage door. I just can't get the @#&% Bahro to put the slate on the second pedestal.

Help?

I've had this problem with the Bahro in other places, having to redraw my symbols until they finally understood my dialect I guess! Anyway I think you have to get it pretty close.

Funny. I had just been to Noloben and thought my drawing on the slate was a bit sloppy, but the Bahro had no problems. This symbol on Laki'ahn is as simple as it gets. Hard to make it look wrong.

Pattern recognition between symbols is a bit inconsistent... some are much more forgiving (sometimes to a fault) than others. Laki'ahn's symbols appear to be somewhere between middle-of-the-road and anal, while Todelmer's are almost laughably loose, as is the first one on Tahgira (I wrote "make fire!" on the Slate in an attempt to get out of the ice cave and the Bahro stole the Slate from me and took it to the second pedestal Razz).

Sounds like my exact problem -- not a bug but confusing.

The Bahro have to do some serious travelling to do their job with the slates to set up the linking magic. But what would happen if there was someplace they either couldn't or wouldn't travel to? Could somebody else help out?

did you try taking it and link from first(bubble) to second with the slate ?(if you have the second pedestel's symbol on first pedestal)
If not, go around the cage and look for a hint.

Joel, FYI I deleted your separate thread cuz it's a duplicate post.

For all of you, here are the basic principles behind the Bahro and the slate:

Make sure you drop the slate in an open area where can move at least two clicks away and watch the Bahro.

If it doesn't get picked up, you're too close or it's in an area he won't go.

If he scratches his head but picks it up and returns it to the home pedestal, he doesn't understand your symbol.

If he picks it up and returns it to the home pedestal but the symbol doesn't appear on the pedestal, it's not quite accurate enough... check your proportions and scale. Lines touching when they're not supposed to and that sort of thing will affect it.

If he puts his hand on it and links with it (like you do), then it is good and should show up on the pedestal.

With this particular pedestal in Laki'ahn that you guys are stuck on you might as well walk back to the area where the bubble is and do it all there where there is plenty of room in the open and then you are close to go check and see if the symbol shows up on.

I have had to write a symbol 5 times to get them to pick it up and use it. Proportions are very important as are circles being round and lines being straight. Keep trying, you'll get it.
