I can't seem to get on the platform in the up position without it going right back down. I've tried the original combination of open reds and used the slate with the singing sign on it so the creature would linger there just long enough for me to run back to the linking posts and link to the top of the platform - but then it just goes down before I have a chance to get off.

I figured this was the only way to do it - but it doesn't work. I need a little help with this one. What am I missing here?? Do I have the right combinations? The right idea? the wrong idea??

Do the yellow things with the red inside the doors TELL the weight or ?? Does it make a difference which of these are opened to to start the process???

Please someone!

Thanks.

You don't have to hurry to jump onto the pillar - there is a pedestal with a symbol on the pillar, so you can link to it from the bubble where you arrived in Lakiahn (if you have made the symbol appear there)

The niche in the wall on the left hand side is a scale - you can use it to weigh yourself, with or without slate.

The small buttons in the back wall set the counterweight for the pillar. Start by closing all lids, then push the big button. The pillar will sink to the ground.

Now experiment how many lids you have to open to make the top of the pillar rise to the level of the walkway when you push the big button. This is mostly trial and error, and will take several tries.

When you have done so, think about your own weight. What to do about it?

When you think the counterweight has been set correctly, go back to the start bubble and link to the pillar.

I've tried all this and the lift stills goes down, with or without the slate.

I'll take a spoiler right about now. (sigh)

Here is a complete spoiler. Stop reading when you feel you have enough info to start trying again.

.
.

You weigh 2x3 = 6 circles without the slate, and 2x3+1 = 7 circles with the slate.

.
.

You can make the top of the pillar (without the slate) rise to exactly the level of the walkway by opening the lids for in total 9 circles, for example both ones on the very left (4 circles each) and one on the very right (1 circle). Add 1 if you have placed the slate on the pedestal on the pillar.

.
.

This means that the total counterweight needed for the pillar with you and the slate on it is 9+7=16 circles. This can be set by opening both 4-circle lids, both 3-circle lids and one 2-circle lid (there are some other combinations that will work too).

.
.

When you set this combination and press the big button, the pillar will rise much too high. But if you go to the start bubble and link to the pedestal on the pillar, it will sink through your weight to exactly the level of the walkway.

Sorry but that didn't work. I'll keep trying to make sure I didn't make a mistake, but - oh well............I don't know anymore (sigh). Hammer

I'm afraid I'm stumped. I have given you the complete solution.

What happened when you linked to the pedestal? Did the pillar remain too high or did it sink too low?

Then you haven't set the counterweight correctly - you haven't opened enough lids. Experiment by opening one more.
