Last post before heading to India:
I think I've tried the power settings trick on the Inspiron and it made no difference. Oh, my . . . just went in to the Inspiron, which I'm posting from, and discovered I had completely misinterpreted the side-by-side menus for plugged in or battery run. Now that I understand it, I may get better game play out of the Inspiron! However, it won't be until I get back that I can try it out. This message has been edited. Last edited by: LynComeLately, |

From India
While catching up on the game using the Latitude, I noticed another difference: The light that illuminates the family tree now looks as if it's a real beam of light instead of a cone or triangle of "white" on the screen. I had *thought* the graphics of it were not up to par with what I had expected. Now I see that the problem was in my graphics card (unless it relates to one of the patches perhaps not having installed correctly.) |

Well, Mr. G, I'm back.
The Inspiron seems to be behaving itself upon startup, so I'm interested in proceeding to the next step: installing the newest video driver for the NVIDIA GeForce and updating the BIOS. As always, I am depending on you for the detailed instructions I need to carry out these procedures. BTW, in my thread "Yeesha's books...gentle hint needed" in the Spoiler Discussion forum, JacaByte made the following comment about my "blue skies, night skies" problem:
