im having the mouse warping issue on vista-- is there any way to fix it?

I gotta say so far i am put out. ive purchased myst 1-5 and uru in the last week cause i loved playing 3 on the ps2-- so far none of them have worked... (5 hasnt arrived yet tho)

myst 1 plays but crashes a lot
myst 2 well to be fair i havent tested this one all that much--soo it might work but i doubt it
uru cc-- apparently isnt legit copy tryin to get money back from seller
myst IV-- mouse warping

i just want to enjoy these magnificent games, why does it have to be so difficult T_T

Please forgive an ignorant Mac user, but what the heck is "mouse warping?" (Is this anything like "cow tipping?")

the mouse skips around on the screen which makes the game nearly impossible and frustrating to play.

in other posts people say this occurs on win 2k, but im on vista and its happening...

First, a couple of questions:

1. Are you running a dual-monitor setup? This is definitely not a good idea with Revelation (and the other Myst-series games).

2. Is there a reason you haven't installed Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)?

3. Did you install NVIDIA's ForceWare 169.12 video driver as detailed under Installing NVIDIA Drivers, "5. Here's the driver installation procedure." in Myst IV: Installing Video Drivers With Win XP?

4. Have you tried any of the suggestions (modified as appropriate, of course) in my post in your simple questions topic?

UAC is disabled-- that was the first thing i did when i got the computer as its a big pain in the butt lol

when i tried to install those updates that were all linked in my previous post the system wouldn't let me, said they didnt apply to this computer or something similiar to that-- this is a fresh install of the computer and everything is up to date as far as i can tell.

and no, im not using dual monitors-- i will try to see if i can install that nvidia fix tomorrow (im at work atm so i cant)

Im considering trying to find the console versions of all the games-- myst IV was released on the original Xbox right? Is it backwards compatible on the 360?

Before you go to a console version of Revelation:

In general,
-- Always log into Vista with full Administrator privileges, and close all open applications before starting Revelation.
-- Never boot up with the Revelation DVD in the drive, or with any disc in the drive.
-- If the Revelation DVD autostarts when inserted into the drive, cancel back to the Desktop.
-- Always start Revelation with the Desktop icon, not from the DVD menu.

Update to the latest drivers for your hardware:
-- a. Logitech laser mouse, starting here.
-- b. Ideazon keyboard, starting here.
-- c. Realtek audio chipset, available here.
-- d. NVIDIA video chipset, available here (Dell, version 174.74) or here (NVIDIA, version 175.16).

After updating is complete, reboot, log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, close all open applications, and start Revelation.
