Lyn, At some point you might want to go here and download "Revelator," which allows extraction of music and pictures from Myst IV: Revelation. The software is free and works on both Windows and Macs.

OK. So, according to the info you've given me, I've heard "full." I am guessing that I've heard "strings" because I took note of - strings. So it must be the one named "padmix" that I either haven't heard, or haven't recognized as a third version.
What combination of moves triggers the "padmix" version?
wstrohm, I thought about the revelator, but I think I'll wait until I want to hear the music for the music's sake. For now I just want to hear the music in context of the game.

"full" is the first music you've heard. "strings" is the second. "padmix" is the third. After that, they play in random order.
| |
So do I understand then that IF I heard the music "repeat" at all, that what I heard would have been all three versions, not just one, repeated?
| |
No. It's the same music that repeat. Each time you enter the area, only one music is played (and repeated).
| |
OK. SO I have to leave and re-enter at least twice after I'm first there?
| |
Yes.
After that, you have to leave and enter until the wanted music start.

So, I can tell by ear which version is strings: pizzicato and legato violins, lots of harp. And "full" seems to be horns and clarinet and a nice oboe solo.
But what is distinctive about the padmix version? I don't think I've isolated it yet.
| |
Ok. I'll keep trying because I'm sure I haven't heard them combined yet.
| |
If by "combined" you mean the full version then yes you have heard it. It's the version that doesn't loop.
Your description of "full" is in fact the description of "padmix".

So apparently I'm not distinguishing between full and padmix just by ear.
I remember now that you'd already explained that full is the one that starts the first time you enter the Lakehouse node. So that should be strings + horns, clarinet, and oboe.
Back to the node tonight!
