I can move the handle, and I have tapped all around the wheel, and I have tapped on and around the rock with crystals...and the crystal/rock does not dislodge. I loaded the game on another computer, and the result was the same. Is there some step I may have missed? I have loaded the patches. I have had no troubles in any other step so far.

That's the piece of rock with the little green crystals? Push on it to set the wheel free. Then pull the handle again.
