Hi everyone!
I just got Myst IV (DVD version) and installed it. The installation went fine, but when I tried to play, I got a "please insert disc number 2" message.
I searched through the forums and read about the no DVD patch, and thought that finally, I'm gonna play Myst
So Iv'e downloaded the 1.03 patch and the no DVD patch, but now when I try to play the game crashes
Any suggestions?

You do not have to execute anything but just to overwrite/replace two files in the Myst 4 installation.

First, try what nanoukmetal suggests.

If that doesn't help:

1. Install the latest driver from NVIDIA (version 186.18) for your GeForce 6200 video chipset. For details, see Myst IV: Installing Video Drivers With Win XP.

2. Re-install Revelation. Confirm that there are no smudges, fingerprints, deep scratches, etc., on the Revelation DVD's, then:
-- a. Log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, and close all open applications.
----- 1. Do NOT log into a Power User or a Limited User Account.
----- 2. Do NOT boot up with either Revelation DVD in the drive.
----- 3. Disable all anti-virus/spyware/adware/pop-up programs running in the background.
-- b. Click on Start > Control Panel, then double-click on Add or Remove Programs.
----- 1. In the Currently installed programs box, click on the Myst IV - Revelation entry. (If your previous installation attempts didn't get very far, you may think that you won't find Revelation in the programs listing. Look anyway!)
----- 2. Click on Remove (or Change/Remove).
----- 3. If prompted to confirm removal of the program, click on Yes.
----- 4. Close Control Panel back to the Desktop when removal is complete.
-- c. Place Revelation Disc 1 (NOT Disc 2) in your DVD drive, and let it spin up to speed.
----- 1. If the disc autostarts when you insert it into the drive, cancel back to the Desktop.
-- d. Click on Start > Run.
-- e. Browse to Setup.exe on Disc 1, and double-click on the file to put it in the Open: box.
-- f. Click on OK to start the installation process.
-- g. Follow the installation Wizard's instructions.
----- 1. Do a full/complete install.
----- 2. Accept the install defaults if at all possible. If you don't accept the install defaults, make very certain to correctly set all of the paths. Double-check your entries for typos!
----- 3. Install Revelation to your C: drive.
-- h. Even if you get a "Finished" message from the install Wizard, wait for all hard disk activity to stop - then and only then close the Wizard.
-- i. Place Disc 2 (NOT Disc 1) in your DVD drive, let it spin up to speed, and start Revelation.

If Revelation doesn't play properly after re-installation:

1. Apply both Revelation patches. The patches are available here. I recommend applying the 1.02 patch and then the 1.03 patch. The 1.02 patch is 41.1 MB, while the 1.03 patch is only 15.4 MB, which may mean there's "good stuff" included in 1.02 that isn't included in 1.03. Apply the patches as follows:
-- a. Click on Start > Run.
-- b. Browse to myst4_v1.00_to_v1.02_pc.exe, and double-click on it to put it in the Open: box.
-- c. Click on OK to start the install process.
-- d. Follow the Wizard's instructions, and accept the install defaults.
----- 1. Close back to the Desktop when patch application is complete.
-- e. Click on Start > Run.
-- f. Browse to myst4_v1.0_to_v1.03_pc.exe, and double-click on it to put it in the Open: box.
-- g. Click on OK to start the install process.
-- h. Follow the Wizard's instructions, and accept the install defaults.
----- 1. Close back to the Desktop when patch application is complete.
-- i. Place Disc 2 (NOT Disc 1) in your DVD drive, let it spin up to speed, and start Revelation.

2. Run Revelation using Compatibility Mode. See How to use the Program Compatibility Wizard in Windows XP or HOW TO: Use Windows Program Compatibility Mode in Windows XP. Try all of the compatibility options, if necessary.

3. If you get a CD or DVD-related error, apply the Myst IV: Revelation v1.03 - NoDVD Patch, as detailed in Myst IV: Patch for Please Insert Correct CD Error With Win XP.

Nanukmetal, I already did this.. The problem was that after installing the 1.03 and the noDVD patches, I got a system error message when I tried to play and the game crashed.

It turned out all I needed to do is to run the game in a compatibility mode like Heimdall G suggested.
