I just bought Myst IV, installed it, no problems with the installation. I launched the game, and the cursor was really screwed up. The palm was okay, but the fingers were stretched out beyond belief. No idea why this might be happening...I tried restarting the game, no luck...

-- b. Position the mouse cursor at the left margin and one line down from your explanation, then right-click.
-- c. Click on Paste in the resulting menu.

If the manufacturer and exact model number of your PC aren't shown under 'System Information' (System Manufacturer and System Model) at the top of the report, also include that information in your post. Or, if you built your system or it was put together locally for you, include the manufacturer and exact model number of your motherboard.

In general,
-- When playing Revelation, always log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, not into a Limited User or Power User account.
-- Reboot immediately before playing Revelation, close all open applications, and do NOT run any other applications before starting the game. Also close any anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-adware programs running in the background.
-- Do NOT boot up with the Revelation Disc in the drive, or any disc in the drive.
-- When ready to play Revelation, insert the disc into the drive and allow it to spin up to speed. Cancel back to the Desktop if it autostarts.
-- Always use the Desktop icon to start Revelation, not a disc menu item.

Suggestions:

1. As a starting point, read through all of the following, and try whatever applies to your system:
-- How to troubleshoot application compatibility issues in Windows Vista
-- How to troubleshoot issues that may prevent a program from being installed correctly on a Windows Vista-based computer
-- Advanced methods to troubleshoot a program that does not run as expected after it is installed on Windows Vista

Be certain to try running Revelation in Compatibility Mode.

2. Install the latest video, sound, and mouse/touchpad drivers from Dell.com for your Inspiron 1501, especially if you haven't installed these drivers recently. If you installed drivers from other sources, remove them and install the latest Dell drivers.

3. Turn *off* Windows Aero before starting Revelation.
-- a. Right-click on a blank area of the Desktop, then click on Personalize.
-- b. Click on Windows Color and Appearance > Open classic appearance properties for more color options.
-- c. Under Color scheme, select Windows Vista Basic.
-- d. Click on OK.
-- e. Start Revelation.

4. Carry out step 2 ("Revelation may be asking for something...") of Myst IV: Miscellaneous Fixes for Video Problems With Win XP.

5. Some programs run properly under Vista only if you run them with full Administrator privileges and with the Run as administrator option enabled. See How to use User Account Control (UAC) in Windows Vista.

6. If none of the above help, install Revelation from a clean boot. Again refer to How to troubleshoot issues that may prevent a program from being installed correctly on a Windows Vista-based computer, especially "Run the program installer in compatibility mode" and "Run the program installer as an administrator".
-- a. Uninstall Revelation using the Windows Add or Remove Programs utility.
----- 1. See Uninstall or change a program for details.
----- 2. If you can't find the Add or Remove Programs utility, see Turn Windows features on or off.
-- b. Do step 1 in How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista.
-- c. Re-install Revelation.
-- d. Do step 7 in How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista.
-- e. Reboot after installation is complete, close all open applications, and start Revelation.
