Does Myst IV run on Windows Vista?

I just tried to install it and it doesn't acknowledge that the CD is in the drive.

Thanks!

So from more reading...I think this might be part of a larger problem unless it's simply a "I need a new operating system" problem.

I also don't know how to find out what kind of drive I have. So if it is that, someone will have to give me directions.

Thank you!

Revelation should install and play properly under Vista. One of the requirements, as with Windows XP, is that your DVD drive must be able to properly read dual-layer DVD's.

Questions:

1. Revelation is on (two) DVD's, not CD's, and CD drives are not able to read DVD's. Do you have a DVD drive?

2. When you say that you don't know how to find out what kind of drive you have, do you mean determining the manufacturer and model, or determining whether it's a CD or DVD drive?

3. If it's a DVD drive, have you had problems reading DVD's and/or problems with installing other programs? If so, what were the problems?

4. When Vista doesn't acknowledge that the Revelation disc is in the drive, what happens? Do you get an error message, for example, and if so, what's the exact wording of the message?

1. I have a DVD drive.

2. I dont know how to find out which model it is. It came with a Toshiba laptop, if that helps any at all.

3. I've never had any problems with the drive before, but I've only had this computer for a month.

4. I don't get an error message. I put the DVD (thank you for correcting me on that) in and nothing happens. So I tried to go in and start it by finding the drive with windows explorer but it asks me to put a DVD/CD in it.

It worked fine in my Dell laptop DVD drive.

Thanks!

Assuming that you can "see" other DVD's with Windows Explorer, it sounds like you've got a hardware problem. Please post a DxDiag report in this topic so that we can take a look at your system and make recommendations.

See POSTING GUIDELINES, To post a DxDiag report, in Myst IV: System Requirements and Posting Guidelines for a how-to. Run all of the graphics and sound tests you can before saving the report to a file. The file will be long, but post *all* of it!

If the exact model number of your laptop isn't shown under 'System Information' (System Model) at the top of the report, also include that information in your post.
