I am sorry if this question has been repeated. I installed Myst IV...updated my video card driver which is geforce 6200...reinstalled directx 9.0c...disabled zone alarm...the beginning will play...but when the short film is over and it goes to the screen for me to choose a new game...it freezes...the music still plays as if nothing is wrong but the graphics freeze...any advice would be most helpful.

Glad you got Revelation fixed!

For the benefit of others, what did you do to fix it?

I recently bought a used "like new" version of Myst IV, and I've insalled it, but when I click the desktop icon to play, the game screen disappears.
This happens repeatedly and makes the game unplayable. Is Myst IV allergic to my mouse or what??
please advise.

Welcome to the Forums!

Revelation probably isn't allergic to your mouse. Its only known allergy is to ferrets. Wink

You probably have a driver and/or hardware problem. To avoid confusion, please start a new topic and post a DxDiag report in that new topic:

1. Click on Start > Run.
2. Type dxdiag in the Open: box.
3. Click OK.
4. Let the blue bar in the lower left corner of the DxDiag window finish crawling and disappear.
5. Run all of the tests you can on the Display, Sound and Music tabs. Do not neglect to do this step!
-- a. On the Display tab, click on the Test DirectDraw and Test Direct3D boxes, and follow the resulting instructions.
-- b. On all of the Sound tabs, click on the Test DirectSound box, and follow the resulting instructions.
-- c. On the Music tab, click on Test DirectMusic box, and follow the resulting instructions.
6. Click on the Save All Information button.
7. Close the DxDiag utility.
8. Now you have a DxDiag.txt file on your Desktop, or in the location where you have saved it. Copy *ALL* of the contents of this file to the Windows Clipboard:
-- a. Double-click on the file to open it.
-- b. Right-click anywhere in the text, then click on Select All in the resulting menu.
-- c. Right-click on the highlighted text, then click on Copy in the resulting menu.
9. Start a new topic.
-- a. At the top of the "Myst IV Revelation - Technical Help & Advice" Forum index page, click on New > Discussion.
-- b. Type a subject in the Subject: box. Do NOT use "Please help game wont play"!
-- c. With the mouse cursor at the upper left corner of the Message: box, type in an explanation of your problem.
----- 1. We need more detail! For example, when "the game screen disappears", exactly how does it disappear - crash to Desktop, Blue Screen of Death requiring a reboot, system lockup, etc., etc.? Do you get an error message, and if so, what's the exact wording of the message? Plus any other details that might help to diagnose the problem.
10. Paste the contents of the DxDiag file from the Clipboard into your new topic:
-- a. Position the mouse cursor at the left margin of the Message: box and two lines down from your explanation (press Enter twice to add two lines), then right-click.
-- c. Click on Paste in the resulting menu.
----- 1. If the manufacturer and exact model number of your PC aren't shown under 'System Information' (System Manufacturer and System Model) at the top of the DxDiag report, also include that information in your post. Or, if you built your system or it was put together locally for you, include the manufacturer and exact model number of your motherboard.
-- d. Click on Post Now.
