I'm having the same problem as Super_Pleb in his post "Myst IV Revelation - Game won't launch after installation." My computer is only about 2 or 3 years old, and I have a different DVD-ROM drive that I will be installing soon (TDK I believe; I don't have it with me right now) if that turns out to be the problem. Unfortunately, your S3 Graphics ProSavage video chipset is the problem - it's NOT supported by Myst IV. The supported chipsets are detailed under SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS, "*Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:" on the back of the game's slipcase/box.

So, unless you can install a video card with a supported AMD/ATI Radeon, NVIDIA, or Matrox chipset, you won't be able to play Revelation.

If your motherboard has the slot, install an AGP video card. This is much preferable to a PCI card, but if there's not an AGP slot, a PCI card is your only option. And before you buy, make certain that the new card can be used with your motherboard - not all video cards work with all motherboards.

For Radeon cards, buy a card with a chipset model number higher than 9250. (Stay away from anything with 9200 or 9250 in the model number, since these chipset models have probably been the cause of the most video problems.) For NVIDIA cards, buy a GeForce FX with a chipset model number of 5200 or higher. Also, stay away from any NVIDIA chipset with "MX" in the model name. Note that these model number recommendations assume that they can be used with your motherboard - again, you must verify that before you buy!
