Now what did I do?
I'm one of the many having trouble getting Myst IV to run on an Intel Core Duo iMac in OS 10.4.7. with the ATY,RadeonX1600 I was about to try the "Terminal" modifications but when I attempted to load the game I got the message: Unable to install Myst IV - Revelation over Myst IV - Revelation: Installed product has a newer version. In frustration, I had trashed the copy I attempted to load the first time, but the installer apparently still sees something. Any Ideas? m |

Take a look at:

Well I searched everywhere and couldn't find any fragment of the game anywhere.
I kind of think it might have been something left over from the 1.3 patch, as the computer seemed to be telling me it didn't want to load the game because it saw an updated version of something or other in there. What I ended up doing was changing the name of the targeted file to Myst IV.1 and that fooled the computer into loading up a fresh copy. I'm afraid that I'll have problems when I reload the patch since I've renamed the target file, so I'm going to run the Uninstaller in hopes that that will kill off all the stray bits and I can reload a fresh copy (again) Then I can start in on trying to get it to run. For what I've got to go thru, ...this better be one awesome friggin' game |

Man smart, Mac smarter.
What ever left over fragment that was in there, it's in there solid. The uninstaller didn't get it. I still get the message that the installer sees a newer version of MystIV then the one I'm trying to install. *sigh* So once again I tacked .1 on the end of the directory name to "/applications/ubisoft/mystIV" in the installer, and then I knocked the .1 off the file name once the game was installed. Something I've noticed and nobody else has mentioned, The computer never asked for the administration password authorization to install this game. I know that Apple and UBI are each blaming the other for the problems with IV and V. This kinda makes me think it might be an issue with the game as the iMac somehow isn't recognizing this as an application. Is there any way I can change the name of this thread to "The Battle of the Myst" or "A Myst Too Far"? |

Here's a question I've always had, is Myst IV a universal binary? I haven't ever heard any news about Revelation's compatibility with Intel Macs.

As a start, take a look at (in this Forum): -- Myst IV on IMAC Dual Core (2 pages) -- Myst IV on macbook pro, OS X 10.4.7 HELP ME PLEASE (2 pages) starting with the post of Tue July 04 2006 00:17 -- Problems installing any Myst IV patch on Mac OS X.4 starting with the post of Sun January 29 2006 18:48 -- Myst IV on Mac and PC: how I overcame problems, but can't patch PC install Heimdall Semper ubi sub ubi |

I searched through the topics you linked me to and all I got was this:
And the person Alahmnat replied to said that his copy of Revelation simply refused to start. What I really need is a "yes", a "no", or a "I don't know" but judging from the information in those topics I would say "no". |
