Any chance the zlib.dll file will be updated? The Secunia PSI application is flagging this file as insecure and potentially exposes your system to security threats. The advisory page is http://secunia.com/advisories/16137/ . The detected version is 1.1.3.0. The latest version is 1.2.3. I replaced the original dll with the new one and that brings up an Ordinal 80 error. Any chance this will get patched? I have the latest patch installed currently.

Welcome to the Forums!
Why did you replace zlib.dll version 1.1.3.0 with version 1.2.3? Were you having problems playing Revelation, maybe? Heimdall Semper ubi sub ubi This message has been edited. Last edited by: Heimdall G, |

It was due to the warning by Secunia PSI that the dll was a potential danger.

I tried replacing zlib version 1.1.3.0 in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Myst IV - Revelation\bin with version 1.2.3.
When starting Revelation, I got the error message "The ordinal 84 could not be located in the dynamic link library zlib.dll." The only fix I can recommend is: -- a. Replace zlib.dll version 1.2.3 in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Myst IV - Revelation\bin with the original version 1.1.3.0. -- b. Disable your Internet access *before* starting Revelation. IMHO, that should be sufficient to prevent the vast majority of exploits related to zlib.dll, said exploits being - again IMHO - very unlikely in the first place. With all due respect to Secunia. DISCLAIMER: Those who frequent porn and or/warez sites may well pick up a malware infestation that could easily exploit zlib.dll. In which case, all bets are off! Heimdall Semper ubi sub ubi |
