Here is the question: would you buy Conviction if it wasn't branded with the Splinter Cell title?

Does it look like a good game if you don't think about it being a Splinter Cell game?

Question:
Would you buy Conviction if it didn't have the Splinter Cell branding on it?

Choices:
Yes
No

I voted NO because it is an Ubisoft product. The state of Double Agent and the post release support have turned me off to ANY game produced by the company from now on.

If the whole game is based on walking in a crowd, then no...

If it wasn't branded "Splinter Cell" and didn't have Sam starring in it, and wasn't a Tom Clancy game, I'd rent it before deciding whether or not to buy it.
So I can't say 'yes' or 'no'.

Voted no. Bet that isn't surprising.

Where's the option, 'I won't buy another UBI game?"

There should be a third option: Will rent first to see if it's worth it.

Or: Will d/l the demo first before deciding (if they even put one out for SP).

Call me a fanboy, but I voted yes.

People moaned about CT when it came out. It turned out to be awesome.
I thought it was the same BS all over again when people started moaning about DA.. until i bought it. Campaign was fun.. but the multiplayer is unplayable.

With ConViction you're going to get the same old **** as before, people moaning over and over again.. but I'm pretty sure Ubi has the sence not to release something if it's of piss-poor standard.

People, bear in mind the SCDA Multiplayer was a last-minute addition and therefore rushed. If Ubi Montreal (who so far have failed to let us down) take more time designing the gameplay itself (as opposed to Shanghai who just went for glossy sounds and graphics with DA); then there is nothing to worry about.

I will buy conviction. It might not look like an SC game but my mind is open.

I trust Montreal to bring out a good game, even if it is not a pure light and dark game.

Hence, my question about it being a good game, but not being SC.

However, the MP is a totally different story...

Yeah, but would you buy it if it didn't have the SC name on it? As in, it was its own thing, and you couldn't base your opinion on anything else (like the other SC's...).

Absolutely.

This crowd idea seems interesting. Using the idea of crowds and confusing to allude authorities is something that films have been doing for years. It was bound to end up in games eventually and, personally, I think the stealth genre is a great place to implement it. It's another way to avoid detection, which IMO is what SC has always been about.

The idea doesn't particularly apeal to me. It's interesting, but I would not pay money for it.

It's a joke! When you look at me like that, it's a joke.

I like the idea of the interactive surroundings and the various ways you can use it (stealth / aggressive / normal), because it simply makes sense in Sam's situation and it's something I've always wanted to see in a game. It's also a brandnew gameplay mechanic - something we haven't seen before in videogames, that's why I'm excited about it. I also like the sandbox style gameplay because all of that offers more freedom and is very realistic. The crowd gameplay also adds a lot of realism to Sam's new challenge and makes the world around my favorite spy more believable! Smile

Soooooo, i assume that is a yes?

I'm just cureous who will pull off a better, Ubisoft with SC or Sierra with The Bourne Conspiracy. My bet is on Sierra after seeing the **** that DA turned into.

Yes... because:

1. Any type of stealth game from UBI-M, I'll just buy untill one disappoints me... till now, nothing did.

2. I'm looking for good sandbox-games which aren't GTA-ripoffs

3. I'm improvising my whole life, except for the thing I do the most, which is gaming... why not? because it's not been adequately done in any game

4. I Like innovation in any game.

This all is, considering I would have heard about it in the first place... That's what the SC label did so far...
