Did anyone get the impression that the 360 Double Agent felt too much like a James Bond knock-off?
His PDA watch pretty much could do everything except tell time. Fingerprint scanner, retinal scanner, voice recorder, snake cam, hacking device, it does it all. Kind of like Bond's impossibly overkill gadgets.
Also, the feel for some of the missions seemed too much like a James Bond situation, particularly the eavesdropping in both Shanghai and Kinshasha. Dangling on a rope outside of a "top secret" meeting where apparently everyone is completely blind, drunken, or ignorant enough not to notice you through the window. And then comes Kinshasha. I doubt, if anyone was going to bug a room like that, they'd survive. There's no way a criminal organization with enough money to afford a "secret meeting room" would be stupid enough to secure it with completely visible laser grids and cheap entrances through the ceiling.
I found this game to be way too influenced by 007 themes, over-suspenseful and completely unbelievable, something I couldn't find a hint of in any other title.
No. I found it pretty believable and realistic. If they made the lasers in the secret meeting room invisible (that means only visible by night or thermal vision). Then it would be way too hard and frustrating to get through that part by "guessing". They could have made it simple by just making Sam record the conversation with the laser mic (from the glass roof of the room), but they just wanted to add something to the game like that.
