Here are my opinions on the multiplayer so far, and what Conviction should learn from each.

Pandora Tommorow's multiplayer was fresh, original multiplayer that raised the bar of online stealth gameplay. People, at this time, have never really seen much of the next gen graphics, and had pretty low expectations in terms of graphics and connection back then but there were a lot of problems. Both the Spies and Merc's animations were choppy, sluggish, and unnatural. Try grabbing a mercenary. It just doesn't look right. And no one really enjoyed playing mercenary.

Chaos Theory's multiplayer (not including cooperative mode) was merely an upgraded Pandora Tommorow multiplayer mode with a few new match options, and new maps. Overall, it was a good multiplayer game but some of Pandora's problems were still present. Animations were still choppy and lacking, mercenaries were still unappealing, but overlooking these problems, it was still a hell of a good time. This wasn't much of a jump, but it was a good move sticking to what worked.

Double Agent's multiplayer was somewhat of a let down for me. I had been reading up about Double Agent and was a victim of it's hype. In some ways, the multiplayer was improved, in other's, it strayed away from the previous games and made the game unbalanced. It did have slick new graphics that balanced out framerate/lag factor, and gameplay quite nicely. Ragdoll was introduced and it actually reacted to the players movement (One time I played DA online, and got knocked out. A dead spy fell ontop of my body rather then through my body. And as i got up the body slipped off of me, realistically responding to the mercenary's mass) The animations were greatly improved, and everything felt so fluid and natural. The agility moves for the spies were also badass. Now, onto the not so nice things. The gadgets suffered a severe downgrade in Double Agent as there were much less gadgets, many of which were somewhat useless. The jammer, for example, was a good concept, but it only lasts a short time making it pretty much the crappiest gadget for the spies. Adrenaline syringes were good. Flashes are OK, but smoke grenades turned into ****. They aren't as effective as they were in chaos theory. Oh and dropping the elbow attack was a dumb move. It was the only thing that spies could use to defend themselves up front. And lastly, SPIES SHOULDN'T HAVE FREAKING HACKING WRISTS THAT CAN HACK FROM A DISTANCE, they should have to risk themselves, walk up to a panel and hack it.

Ok, now Mercenaries. The grenades were buffed too much and are too strong. Second, the drones are a pretty good idea, but they should have a greater distance. But HERE is where I draw the line. Proximity Detector and Motion Detector. I DESPISE THIS ELEMENT OF DOUBLE AGENT. WHAT THE HELL. Proximity Detector is so freaking over-powered, it makes the mercenaries pretty much unbeatable. Bring back the old fashioned "sound" sensor on the merc's hud/crosshair. Motion Detector being activated all the time is also overpowered, but if proximity detector was dropped, it wouldn't be so bad as they are a bad combination and make the mercenary still overpowered. Lastly, I miss the Third Echelon Spy costume and the Argus PMC Mercenary costume, make them available please (if SvM is even in Conviction)

Conviction should mix everything that worked in all the Splinter Cell's into one game.

Conviction should include the following:
-HAVE SPIES VERSUS MERCENARIES PLEASE
-Bring back the gadgets from CT and PT, while adding new ones.
-Bring back the Spy elbow strike, and give spies new moves to stun mercenaries such as a front kick on mercenaries charging/beserking at you.
-Drop the Drone, Proximity Detector.
-Include slightly upgraded visuals that MAINTAIN a decent connection over the internet.
-Include the fluid animations of Double Agent.
-Allow the choice from Argus Merc's, to Upsilon Merc's costumes.
-Allow the choice from CT's spies to DA's spies costumes.

That is my rant for today and thanks for reading.

Question:
Do you agree with all/most of this?

Choices:
Yes, I do.
No, I don't. (Please post a valid argument)

I read the first line of your post and this is what I thought:

How could you have an opinion of the multiplayer already? Seriously, there is no screens, videos, interview, nothing, and even more nothing on it. All it says on it in the Ubi store is that the crowd will be implemented in it and you will have to disguise yourself. Everytime in the interviews so far when they asked anything about multiplayer, Ubi has no comment on it.

So what I am trying to say here is wait till you at least see something on it to give suggestions. Hey, even some of the suggestions you stated might be in Ubi's minds already to put into the MP.

OK. I was stating my opinion of the previous games multiplayer so far.

And I mean like the spies should have more melee moves probably not a front kick but something since they aare athletic I used kick as an example.

Oh ok, I read your post a little wrong, no biggie, that was my fault. Anyways I agree with you on the elbow attack, they need to bring that back.

I dont agree on the hacking wrists should be removed. The mercs are already a lot more powerful and spies already are taking risks hacking from a distance and close up. It takes very long to get a file from far away and you cant stay far away for a while and keep hacking, a good merc will find you in a short while. I dont think any of these things will make it into the new multiplayer since it seems it will be in an entirely new direction.

I hope people start realizing we have no effect on how this game is going to turn out, the creators of this game dont care, it is going to be the way they want it to be. And i bet the game is already complete so they arent going to drop there idea of "crowd multiplayer" and put spy vs. merc back, unless they want too delay SCC for another 6 months.

None of the developers would ever read this or even care.

Because that's how they are these days.

I agree with most of that, however maybe i would like to keep the drone. I would like that merc has to choose between drone and some other stuff. So Spys can't be sure if they merc nearby can reach them or not.

In addition i would like to get shotty and Uzi back for mercs and the same noise detection that CT had.

It would be so cool to get some "real" versus going on again Smile But let's see what Ubi wants?

1) Some easy money from casual gamers (who will play the game for 2 weeks)

2) To please the fans of series, who will play the game for years and probably buy a lot of DLC content and other Ubi games because they are so happy about the game.

Old Splinter cell fans will be disappointed... I've been playing since Pandora and I'm a little disappointed but maybe crowd mp wont be laggy/bad at all. It sounds kind of cool

Not for Starcraft, Smith, for WoW. WoW is just like a lot of other MMORPG's where it's subscription based.

Starcraft has had I believe 27 patches since it's release. The game is still a best seller and I feel that's because it has stellar support among other reasons. This is the gold standard of support in games. All companies should follow Blizzard's example.

All companies should shirk UBI's example. I just finished the SCDA single player and I wrote down all the problems I had. 57 crashes, 3 BSOD's that I've never had on XP EVER before, 14 times it wouldn't even load to start the game. That's the most dismal performance possible. Pathetic.

UBI has forever lost my $ as a consumer of it's product. Good luck with ConViction, though all you fan boys will love it I'm sure since you probably got your rear end's whooped on the preceding games' multiplayer and need something new so you're halfway decent at it.

If they bring back SVM, they also need to bring back deathmatch. And yeah I agree with you about the proximity detector sucking, I get SO frustrated because of that sometimes.

what i cant understand is why ubisoft doesn't listen to any of their fans. The majority of the fanbase wants Spies versus mercs back, yet they continue to ignore us and make something totally diferent. I dont see why a company would do the exact opposite of what the fans want. They are looking to sell aren't they?

Yes, they are. But you have to understand that they see themselves as "groudbreaking"

Why cant they go and be groundbreaking with a brand spanking new series rather than mucking up on that wasn't broken in the first place? (well, before DA it wasn't)

And crowd implementation is going to bring about SERIOUS lag issues, especially for those of us who live in Europe and play with a group of American buddies......

When did Ubisoft start going crazy? Oh that's right. When they started developing DA! Hammer

I thought so, but Crackdown isn't laggy.. it depends on how the crowd positioning is handled through the netcode. It could be completely stable for 2-4 players depending on the size of the map.
