I've been sitting this past hour, wathing all the negativ, positive and totaly off-topic posts... And you know what I just realised?
Nothing! HAH! Nothing at all!

Anyways...

I am a bit unsure of the new direction of the game, but... as a loyal fan of the Splinter Cell series, I am excited about this and really curious of the end-result.
Not to complain about the complains, but... The previews we've seen so far, those where pritey basic... Alpha like --It looked like the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory Engine, modified to next gen gfx and a basic fighting engine. So as some other ppl have said... Just wait for the final release. But... Complain all you want! The series will still change, for better or for worse... we'll see.
If the game flops, Hopefully... Ubisoft will understand the second kick to the head and go back to the old ****.
If the game is a success, Be sure to see a slow transition back to the old series (Like SCDA but hopefully better)

That's because it actually WAS Pre-Alpha at that point, as was numerously mentioned (no pun intended). Wink2

No. It's not.

I see nothing about it that takes sides. As a matter of fact, it appears that he is taking both sides, supporting both darkness and light.

Smithie, very cool new sig. I was thinking of making something almost exactly like that, sorta. Thumbs Up

Exactly. Smile

I'm a hardcore Splinter Cell Fan since Minute one of the Franchise - I enjoyed every Minute of the classic "hide in the darkness" system, yet I do have an open mind when it comes to new things and experiences, which is why I look forward to play Conviction and don't consider it a threat to the franchise. Thanks Lauren, I'm glad you like it (although it's a bit cheap atm which is why I'm going to refine it). Smile

He probably means the "NORG". Which can be seen as a hate club to less-realistic-shooters which is forbidden. Also, with the NORG, you're above the sig width-limits. But I understand the rules dont hold for Moderators.

The phrase in your sig also does not hold, because the very definition of darkness is that there is no light. Light needs something to light it up. An additional light source. With the absence of that, it's dark. The light source in this way is "artificial" (used in the abstract meaning, of course it can be natural). So the absense darkness is what defines light and not the other way around. But nice try.

Do I degrade any "less-realistic-shooters" in my sig somewhere? No. So, no hate club. Besides...NORG is rather a concept for a tactical-simulation than for a tactical-shooter (the genre's name already implies a slightly more arcad'ish approach of electronic entertainment) - so it's not even adressing the same genre. Wink2

However, as I know you for quite a while, I knew you'd react to that sooner or later because you simply needed to find something new you can complain about and start flaming another one, who is not sharing your opinion. You've become so calculable... Roll Eyes

Oh please...I really don't think you didn't get the analogy to the classic and the new direction of Splinter Cell. Wink2

But hey, two can play the nitpicking game. Even at night you see some stars or the moon above you - I would actually consider that lightsources in the darkness. Especially in an artificial environment, such as a room inside a building - there's never complete darkness because there are always lightsources, like digital clocks, stand-by lights etc. If you prefer a more Splinter Cell'ish analogy, here you go.

As soon as you shot / OCP'ed a lightsource inside the classic Splinter Cell, in order to create some darkness to hide in or the AI entered a darker part of the map, the guards instantly took out their flashlights in order to see through the darkness (which is why I integrated a guard holding a flashlight into my new signature).

A more philosophical approach to the subject is probably: Light can't exist without Darkness and Darkness can't exist without light because both is necessary to define eachother.

So again, "there's no darkness without a light". Wink2

Vth, can I use my old sig then, so long as no-one copies it then surely it isn't an anti-SCC club and it doesn't offend anyone? *yes, thats an actual request*

This is simply going around in circles now

@ scworld - No its not one rule for members and another for moderators, if you thought for one minute that it was you should discuss it in PT with a manager not here on the forums where it would be percieved by others as nothing more than an attempt to flame Wink

@ ALL - I am looking for clarity on the signature situation in the meantime I'm locking this thread and if anyone wishs to discuss the matter with me in more detail please contact me in PT, thanks
