There is no use complaining, the game is evolving and if you do not like it to bad!!!! Its not like the devs will listen and even if they did they would not care. The game is changing, it is a way to get new players. Please, all these negative rants are the same. Be positive and enjoy Sams new awesome look, moves, and stealth style. Are they supposed to just pretend double agent didnt happen and put sam back into NSA?? Go with the story. If you dont like it play the older games.

A lot of us are upset about the direction Ubi montreal has chosen to take with this unique and beloved franchise, and for damn good reason. You have no right to tell fans of this series what to say or think. If you like the premise of this title check out the Bourne Supremacy, which comes out today, as it will be a similar experience to what you seem to be looking for.
Consider yourself lucky, as those of us who loved Chaos Theory may never enjoy a stealth game of that caliber again. |

Only one question: Did you play the Demo of the Bourne game (btw: it's name is Bourne Conspiracy not Bourne Supremacy)? It's anything but comparable to Splinter Cell. Bourne is a plain "non-stop action game", it's developers even said that themselves. Bourne is also obviously designed as a very linear game and heavily based on close combat and run'n gun elements. Based on what we know at the Moment, Splinter Cell Conviction is going to be a Stealth-Action game which means, it's going to set a much larger focus on stealth than action. It's also using an almost non-linear sandbox based game design, which offers you to decide how you want to play the game (just like Chaos Theory did). Conviction's game design is based on active stealth techniques, improvisation, deception techniques and distraction as well as Action elements. I have played the demo and I didn't bother to finish it because I was disappointed with the gameplay, too many interactive cutscenes jarred the experience and the game felt very shallow overall. But let me just respond to your rather condescending post. People can compare the new Bourne game with Conviction all they want, it has the same fugitive type theme where most of the fighting is hand to hand combat and using books (bourne) or printers (conviction) to beat up enemies. Neither of them are going to break new ground, and adding a sandbox element to a game like this makes me think that if this is really a stealth game, it will be really annoying as randomly generated NPCs will screw up gameplay in a number of ways. I really do not care what the definition of stealth gameplay is anymore and I think arguing that point is simply a deflective tactic used on people who are upset about the premise of this game, but you can at least agree that as far as the first three splinter cell games go, that the series has distinguished itself from other stealth action games and gained a lot of fans in the process. Conviction is simply Ubisoft doing the exact opposite of what they're known for in some stupid attempt to prove they can do anything they please, and effectively pissing in the wound that Double Agent left on the fans of this series. And before somebody says that brilliantly snide comment: "if you like light and shadow go play the old splinter cell". I think it's unfair not to expect fans to want more of their favorite game. And Chaos Theory can only be played so many times, and while I do play SvM I can't help but find myself noticing the outdated graphics, and the game forced my HDTV's aspect ratio to 4:3 instead of widescreen, and thinking that a new splinter cell from a montreal team who cares about its fans is long overdue. Smith, I don't appreciate you closing perfectly civil threads for no reason. You are beyond an apologist I think. I just hope they pay you to do what you do in this forum. |

Just read this...
They may have changed it, who cares it will be a good game, Chaos Theory was a good game, and the first Splinter Cell, and the same team is making it, so just stop worrying about the game it will be good. |

Lots of people care... Actually, most people care! This change is upseting many people, and some are even saying that the game doesn't even deserve to be called a Tom Clancy game! The game might have some good aspects (minimal gameplay and graphics possibly), but I highly doubt any succesion with this new genere of SC gameplay...

I dont question the skills of the programmers. They kick derriere. It's just that I totally dislike the new direction and the way we're being treated.

In that case...why does anyone ever complain? Brilliant. If we want to voice our opinion, whether it's the same as yours or not, we have the right to do it. Especially valid complaints...you know, like being kept in the dark for a year. |
||||
|
GTA games are released three to four years apart, it's one of the most famous games ever and yet no one complains for how long they go without giving information. Splinter Cell games were released to closely to one another, so if you can't handle one year then don't be a Splinter Cell fan because guess what patience is what the game is about and patience is a virtue. If you've waited this long and still are a fan then I'm sure you can wait a few more months or even another year. PATIENCE!!!! |

Rockstar's not the same. They don't seem to release info until they're really good to go (which meant me waiting years to even hear rumors about Manhunt 2...). Ubi released info...then went dark. I agree with you, though, about the SC's being released too close to one another. They saturated the general market (can't saturate me, thankyouverymuch), which is probably a reason why SCC was so different. But anyways...where are the smilies?! ------- "Tonight's forecast...dark." |

The same basic ideas of posts are constantly being repeated because the people that think that Conviction will actually some how be a good ending to the SC series, still aren't getting why it wont be!

I'm surprised you lot aren't up in arms when they release any games because it is different from the original game, Pong. "IT'S CHANGING FROM THE ORIGINAL FORMULA! WHY ATARI WHY!?!?!?!"
Here's to hoping I don't start a flame war about the Commodore 64. |

Lol, that'll never happen. We had like fifteen threads about Ubidays, we've had almost ten threads about if Lambert is dead or alive, we've had three or four threads about Sam's hair of all things, and for that same reason we will always have more than one rant thread going on. Hold your breath until your face turns blue, but I promise you that the "search" button doesn't get half the clicks per day as the "start new thread" button. Oh good, I thought I was the only one that was happening to. @_@ |
