This is just to test a theory of mine that people who like DA are (usually) the people that like what they see so far of Conviction, whereas the people who thought DA was bad are the people who also think Conviction looks bad.

I didn't like DA, and I don't like the direction Ubi is taking with Conviction.

It's a joke! When you look at me like that, it's a joke.

The Xbox version of DA was a least somewhat better that the X360 version, but it's still a rather forgettable game. And no, Conviction doesn't look to change things to the better.

I hated Double Agent, but I'm not going to pass judgement on Conviction until I play it. I must say I was quite let down with Double Agent, but I'm optimistic and I feel Conviction shows promise. But nobody really knows how the game feels yet, how it plays out, how well things work, if it's fun, etc., so I can't know if it will be great, or garbage. If I am as dissapointed in this one as I was with Double Agent, I might lose my enthusiasm for future Splinter Cell titles, but based on Montreal's track record, I hope it turns out great. Like I said, who knows, so count me as neutral.

And yes, I know it says I played DA recently, according to my sig, but that was my friend Alex, I haven't touched that game in months.

I very much enjoyed the XBox version of DA. The 360 version of the game was okay, but it ranked a far second compared to the current gen version IMO. It was more like an expansion pack I guess.

And I'm going to agree with an earlier poster that I will reserve judgment on Conviction as I have yet to play it. It could be the worst or best game of all time, but it seems silly to judge now as it's still eight months away.

I'm asking for opinions here people. There are plenty of other threads where you can try to stay neutral and say "I'll wait to pass judgement until I play it" and such. I am simply interested in seeing what people think of the concept, and how the game looks at this time.

I played both 360 and Xbox versions of SCDA. On the 360, it was a good SC game, it added some great new elements and moves that made the gameplay better. On the xbox, it was a great experience all the way through and has everything I would expect from a SC game. It was just as good as the old SC games in every way.

When I saw SCC for the first time I didnt really had anything to say about it since I didnt have any info on it. But as I read and seen more previews and interviews it sounded great to me and it should be a great new concept. Im always up to try something new, once I already experienced the old days and mastered it.

Anyways, from footage so far we all know the game needs some work...just like every other game, but it looks decent right now.

I liked both versions of DA, and I am not liking what I see so far in SCC.

I liked the 360 DA, couldn't be bothered to finish the old gen DA. I'm optimistic about Conviction.

That being said, the first SC is far and away my favorite in the series.

Well, according to your theory, people who liked DA like Conviction. Since I am neutral, I can neither hate nor like Conviction, but I did hate Double Agent, so it tallies one more toward your theory being correct.

I agree with your theory. Some people hate changes. And some people welcome them. Yes, the changes in SCDA alone made it the best SC in series if you overlook the bugs.

I loved SC, PT, CT and DA.

I thought the concept behind DA was better than the execution of that concept, but that said it was still a thoroughly enjoyable game. I've only played the X-Box version. I plan to buy a 360 to play SC:C and will probably buy DA for the 360 as well so I can check it out.

I am really looking forward to SC:C, because its by Ubi Montreal, because they're daring to do something radically different with it while still retaining the idea of stealth and of course, because it's a SC game, and I love Sam Fisher!

I never bothered to finish DA, I quit halfway through the ship in antartica or wherever.

But I'm looking forward to SCC because it seems to be a great spy game, a bit more applied and imo more believeable...

Yea uhm that is called opinion. Once again according to metadata the Xbox version (The one without the plot holes, the old "inferior" stealth meter system, and less of a "branching" storyline system) got a better average review then the Xbox 360 version but still failed to surpass SC 1 and 3 (I am pretty sure that it also was surpassed by 2 but don't quote me on that).

If you personaly thought it was the best, fine. But it isn't fact buddy and the reviews sure haven't supported your argument.

Well, it didn't do too badly in reviews. It got a shedload of awards:

The United Kingdom, American, and Australian versions of the Official Xbox Magazine gave the Xbox 360 edition of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent an 8 out of 10. The UK magazine said that it was "rupturing quality and oozing tension", calling it "stealth gaming of the highest calibre, full of imagination and augmented by an excellent two-way Trust system that leaves you pondering every choice you make and then having to deal with the consequences." The UK OXM also gave the PlayStation 2 version an 8 out of 10.

IGN gave the Xbox and Xbox 360 version of Double Agent an "Outstanding" 9.0 out of 10, the PlayStation 2 version an 8.7, the Windows version a 9.0, the Wii version a 5.5 for poor graphics and motion sensing, and the PlayStation 3 version a 7.9 for low frame rates and degraded details. TeamXbox.com rated it 9.1 out of 10, USA Today 9 out of 10, GameTrailers.com 8.9 out of 10, and 1Up.com a "Dynamite" 8 out of 10.

Nintendo Power gave the GCN version 4.5 out of 10 and the Wii version 6.0 out of 10.

GameSpot reviewed each version separately, giving the Xbox and Xbox 360 version a "Great" 8.5, the Windows version a "Great" 8.0, the PlayStation 2 version a "Great" 8.2, the PlayStation 3 version a "Great" 8.0, the Wii version a "Fair" 6.2, and the Gamecube version a "Fair" 6.1.

GameSpy gave the Windows version 2.5 out of 5 stars, citing many bugs and high system requirements.[1]

What I am citing is www.metacritic.com . It is a compilation and average of all the scores. You are citing reviews and scores from multiple platforms. Metacritic takes scores on a per game basis.

Metacritic gave the original Xbox version an average of 89 and the 360 version an average of 85. It is an averaging of all of the scores which is a better overall review then citing single sources.

You are cutting out specific comments made by specific reviewers. I am speaking of the averages not people's individual comments about good aspects of the game.

according to the averages Double Agent is the lowest ranking Splinter Cell followed by only mobile versions of the other games. Fact of the matter is just that. The game averaged a worse review then the other games.

Here is a nice little chart:

Xbox360 Xbox PC PS2
DA: 85 89 80 84

CT: N/A 94 92 87

PT: N/A 93 87 87

SC: N/A 93 91 87

Does anyone notice that DA was not able to break into the 90s in any of it's versions? Yet all the other Splinter Cells did. The Playstation got consistent scores of 87 of course but as we can tell the PS2 is at the short end of the stick in every game.

Who said its a fact? You just want to argue for the heck of it. Get a life.

BTW, I don't need numbers to tell me whether a game is good or not. I can have an opinion of my own.

Sounds like a fact rather than an opinion to me.
