Hey, its better than going to kill off Sam like whats about to happen to Solid Snake. Sam is here to stick around.

Number one, maybe if they didn't alter his genes so much that he's 80 when he should be 30, they could squeeze a few more games out.
Number two, everyone has to die sometime. Better to make five games and then end a story instead of making it go on for sixteen more and have everyone saying there's no way he could've been born in 1957 and still be 42 in 2018. At least getting older is realistic. |

The Bridge is a documentary about suicide jumpers on the Golden Gate. It's not funny, and threatening something like that, even in jest, isn't funny either, IMO. Jackie's connections are well established. She was not joking. And, as far as the change to his age being "stupid", hello? They're changing the core gameplay mechanics, too. I think that's a slightly bigger change. |

The series will die eventually, everyone should know that. But we dont need to see Sam die in the process. Get Crazy. |

Okay, so I have heard of it. And I wasn't making fun of suicide. You misunderstood the joke. And changing the core gameplay to adapt to the story isn't reality-altering. It changes the fan base, not the reality within the game. Let's say in Metal Gear Solid, Snake is getting old fast. Right? And then let's say that for the sake of sucking pennies out of the title, they say that he never had altered genes and he's actually so many years younger, and then try to convince fans of the original games that he was never that old and never had altered genes. Changing facts and details halfway through a series is like that. |

If Ubi was really trying to go ahead and milk this series SCC would have been released last October like planned. They wouldnt be doing what they are doing right now, going back and redesigning, making sure the game is going to be good.

If you care more about story than gameplay that's fine, but at least acknowledge that there are bigger changes going on here than Sam's age...

I don't think moving on to crowd mechanics is a change at all. I call it progress. Because to me using crowd mechanics in a fugitive situation makes perfect sense.
And personally I think changing the facts would have more of an effect on the fan base than would a different type of stealth. Let's take Friends for example. Everybody loves Friends. The core of Friends is comedy and sometimes a few serious moments. If the producers decided to drop the jokes and go for a more serious take, they would lose less fans that way than if they suddenly fired all the main cast, hired new actors, and all of a sudden made Joey a genius and Rachel the idiot of the group. Technically they're the same people, but it's not the same. Changing the core values from what you originally wanted won't lose half as many people as changing the facts that we all know are facts. He wouldn't be the same person. |

"Losing" people? Are you suggesting that there are people who won't buy the new game solely because of Sam's age? Whoa. |
|||
|
So if your favorite TV show did as above, would you keep watching? I mean, they are the same people, after all.
Age is a minute thing, yes, but I'm obviously looking deeper into this. Locking his age also locks continuity. And by that, locking the story, locking Sam's story. Yeah, they'll make new games, but not continuous ones. I'm looking for a story in this game, not just another stealth game. I'd rather have three games with a good, solid story instead of a long list of games with no continuity. Yeah, losing people. Not a lot of people. Probably on three. My mom got me the Hardy Boys when I was like nine. I read them in order because that's how you're supposed to do it. Then halfway through the sixth book, she told me I didn't have to read them in order because they don't have continuity. And I just stopped reading them. I know, probably crazy. Probably something that you'll only find in me, but still, that's me. Something as seemingly tiny as age matters to me a lot, I guess. |

Old snake will die and they'll introduce a new clone of Solid Snake who is young.
As for Sam, he should retire or die but that won't happen. He sells the game. Without Sam it wouldn't be Splinter Cell. |

interesting point

That just brings me to one question, are the books considered cannon then?
The only time his krav maga training is actually mentioned is in one of the books (or maybe its the only one, hell i dunno) I have to say though, the comment about wikipedia... its true that anyone can add anything they want, but whether or not it stays is a different matter all together. oh and a note: the admin do a pretty good job of warning when things are not properly cited. |
