I'm playing SC-CT again just to quench my thirst to play a decent stealth game (unfortunately I just own a xbox 360 ... I know some of you will bring out MGS)
I just finished the first mission, but I loved this game now more than ever. I do own SC-DA, but it's pretty bad compared to SC-CT. I specially love the save and quick save feature in SC-CT. The save feature in SC-DA was not as good If you are replaying the SC series please share your experience and comments. I hear ya. I'm sure SC:C will be a fun game, but not the same. I went back to SC:CT but on pc this time and I'm still amazed at how good the game is, incredibly polished and simply one of the best games I've ever played. SC
It's not surprising considering what they've done to Ghost Recon and Rainbow, but it's still sad. |

If only all of DA could have been like the first level....that was pretty much like CT 2.0
|
||||
|
I'm always popping in CT every once and a while to get my stealth pwnage on...holla!!!
However, while DA (I have both versions) was a poor game in comparison, it still had some positives. Sure, the JBA Headquarters levels had no replayability, but the Cruise Ship mission and the Kinshasa Africa mission were pretty good (360 version). And, the extremely difficult Stealth Rating system always kept up the challenge (seriously, even shooting out a light would lower your score!?!) |

What was the difference between the two versions of SC DA?
|
|||
|
They were completely different games (same basic JBA bomb story). 360 version was done by UBI SHanghai...it had alternating JBA headquarter missions, some daylight missions, and less of a love story between Sam and Enrica. The XBOX version (by UBI Montreal) was more like a bad sequal to Chaos Theory (i.e. very dark). It had different levels (train, different HQ, different level design, etc), but had much less polish, overall. Check out wiki for full description= http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splinter_Cell_4
I bought the old version used from Gamestop, so it was a pretty OK investment for a SC fan. |

Forgot all about the differences. Going to get SCDA for Xbox now. LOL It is bc on the 360, unfortunately it won't look so great on a HDTV though.

I have Double Agent on the Xbox 360, and I just love it! The JBA HQ mission aren't that good, compared to the normal levels, but they offer a change of pace and playstyle. So I like the variation very much.
That you have to make decisions in the game is also very cool, it offers some depth, some involvement in the story. It is the first Splinter Cell game I finished, I also have Pandora Tomorrow for the PC, but I never got past the fourth or fifth mission, and now PT feels to old to me to pick it up again. Double Agent is my favourite Xbox 360 game, and I keep playing it again and again and again Never played CT though, but I'm getting a download code for it with Conviction (because I pre-ordered it) |

From a technical standpoint I am amazed at how good Chaos Theory still looks (PC version). There are some things here and there that stand out as last gen; detail on some of the models but this is nitpicking. CT is just a 10 across the board: technical, story, gameplay. It makes it so easy to hate on Conviction.

Chaos Theory on PC is absolutely awesome, one of a kind. I totally agree with Cube, 10 across the board. I got it for my birthday only a bit after it was released and I've hardly ever gone a month without loading up a mission.
I just finished last gen Double Agent on elite for the third something time. It's good, but it's not Chaos Theory. Current gen DA has its ups but sadly they can't outweigh its downs... a good game would have bean last gen DA with current gen DA tech. Conviction doesn't look like Chaos Theory and it won't be able to take it's place as the best SC on my shelf, but I still can't wait to play it. Razz mentioned a while ago that they have some features for the hardcore fans that they are yet to reveal. |

I could play Chaos Theory blind folded, I've played it so much.
I'm going to play it again myself pretty soon since that's all that's left of the Splinter Cell Series. ---------------------------- Stealth is being Unseen, Unheard, and Unknown. Conviction - The Jack Bauer, James Bond, Jason Bourne Addition Splinter Cell this game IS NOT |

Anyone got any video stealth throughs that they're proud of from any previous games?
Here's two of mine that are done a little differently in my trademarked "infiltration specialist" style, obviously inspired by "the message" Boat - http://www.zshare.net/video/67710010d75564ad/ Penthouse - http://www.zshare.net/video/66022820c514c0a1/ ---------------- Sam:I AM Sam Fisher!! Same here...although I don't think I would be able to completely enjoy the game playing blind-folded. Terms of Use | Signature & Avatar Guidelines | Vth_F | W[N]M | N.O.R.G. W[N]M (US/UK) on Facebook | Xbox Live: Vth F Smith | Twitter: Vth_F_Smith |

That game is so dark, you might see more with the blindfold. Great game, though I always felt bad for the level designers who crafted these incredibly detailed environments and then saw them get completely washed out in darkness. |

I don't know about washed out. I think they're rather atmospheric and improved by the tone of the light ---------------- Sam:I AM Sam Fisher!! Hear me ROOOAAWWR!! Grrrr... Guard: What was that? |

Hey Shadow, about those stealth-throughs I just made one. I've done the Lighthouse mission so many times that I could do it blindfolded, so I guess I am proud of that fact, lol.
Here, take a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxxqEuXY97M I was to impatient at the end so I shoot out the lights. I probably should have waited for the guy to pass then sneak around, hope you don't mind. I also use quick saves (never need them though) that's just a nasty habit, lol. |

Nice!
Could be a leeeetle sneakier and you could have finished all your objectives!! Here's Displace: http://www.zshare.net/video/679080716ef48bbf/ All of these are single playthroughs with no quick saving/loading and no editing cover them up. You see alot of the 100% stealth walkthroughs but they get sneak and quick save/load and edit them out! ---------------- Sam:I AM Sam Fisher!! Hear me ROOOAAWWR!! Grrrr... Guard: What was that? |

Do you make the videos with Fraps? If yes, which software do use to convert the 3.9 GB uncompressed files into small video files with good resolution? AVI, MPEG? I don't know which format look good and don't take much place.

Secondary objectives, duh... I should have shouldn't I, nah well; I might do Hokkaido and get all the mikes.
Yep, I use Fraps. When I edit video I do it through Premiere Pro and all my video stays uncompressed. When my movie's are finished I usually store it uncompressed but if size is a concern you'd be best to use Mpeg2 or DV AVI. There's also a handy encoder called Xvid, it makes good quality AVI that don't take up to much room. Cinepak Codec by Radius isn't to bad either. Hope this helps. |
