Hopefully ConViction explains the events between DA and SCC even though none of the books ever come across the game storylines.

That would be cool, ckhan319. As a big fan of the books, I wish they would be more consistent with releasing new novels in the series. I understand they waited so that it would coincide with the hype for the new game, but with this new game being delayed so much, you'd think the occasional book would be desired to keep the franchise in the public eye.

One would think that Ubisoft wants Splinter Cell to become a succesful franchise outside of the games too. (Maybe having T. Clancy involved a little more would help...)

Anyone there in Ubisoft Moderator-land got any answers about the new books???

WOW, I MUST BE THE ONLY ONE WHO CARES ABOUT THE BOOKS.

Anywho, Borders now says that book #5 come out in November, with #6 in December. I hope they keep these pre-game release dates, as it would serve as a great primer for the game (if that ever comes out).

It seems that you didn't play SC Essentials on PSP . It explains the events after DA . At the start of the game , you will visit Sarah's grave , then .... you better check out the story by yourself .

I'm reading through the first Splinter Cell right now. Its getting pretty good but after reading the nonfiction piece Inside Delta Force (i highly recommend it) it lacks the autheticy that i would like. And I didnt think the author realy captured Sam as a character. saykng things like "another cool feature of my OpSat..." it just sounds kinda dumb and certainly not like Sam would talk.

So far the books have been good. I have read a few of them twice actually. I would wonder if this book is the same story as the game in alot of ways. It would kind of spoil the game for some people if that was the case (not me but others I bet). I mean you read the book and you know how the game plays and ultimately ends. I would also be concerned about releaseing two books so close together. Puking out books within a month of each other the quality may suffer.

THIS^^^^! I havent read any of the splinter cell books since the first one simply because Michaels is such a horrible writer. When he started talking about adaptive camouflage, self cooling wetsuits, and built in bladders for Sam to relieve himself in then he ruined it for me. And like the above poster said....the dialogue of Fisher in the book was lame. I just dont see Michael Ironside/ sam Fisher talking anything like the guy in the book.

I also read quite a bit of military/espionage nonfiction and Michaels was just too far out there for me. I want realism and I want the character to be true to the one in the game. Michaels couldnt manage to give me either.

Also, If you liked "Inside Delta force" then you should check out "Kill Bin Laden" by Dalton Fury. Dalton is an ex Delta officer and gives alot of more recent insight into the unit and some of the things it does.

Yeah I agree, I read the first book and thought it was really lame, especially considering I had just read Rainbow Six. If Clancy himself had of wrote the book I think it would have been good. But as it stands, it was really lame.

Sam in the book didn't at all strike me as the familiar guy from the game, the stealth was something out of James Bond and the threat of some group trying to rub out the SC's and then Sam's daughter becomes a target... I didn't like it, it was so typical... and so dry... so boring... and so not Splinter Cell.

Here's to me for bringing this back...hoorah!

Anyway, does anyone out there in Moderator-land know if artist Greg Horn is going to be providing original artwork for the cover to these new books as well? He did the previous 4 books. The pictures seen for these two new books so far are just "Conviction the game" pics, which may just be placeholders until the actual artwork is released. Can anyone answer that???

Thanks.

Also, for any fans of Grant Blackwood's novels, he co-authored one with the excellent author Clive Cussler called Spartan Gold.

I've yet to pick it up, but I'm sure it's excellent with Cussler involved.

Boy, if only Jackie was here to read this all. Big Grin

If we - out there in Moderator-land would have an official answer to that question, you would have received it by now! Smile

So, this book presumably comes out in early November (Nov 3rd), and you either don't have an answer, or don't want to say anything concerning the product...I guess in Canada the marketing toilet flushes backwards, eh.

At least I know Penguin is still publishing, because they have it on their site...what a wonderous thing, this series of tubes!!!

Ya, the books have always been terribly mediocre.

As are many of the Tom Clancy books that aren't written by Tom Clancy, but under his name.

I just wish they would go back to the first author. His first person style of writing was weird at first, but once i got into it i really liked it.

Unfortunately I'm also unable to answer that question, as I have never been there. Smile

But I'm sure one of the fine canadian citizens will be able to answer it, if you ask them. Wink2
