http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splinter_Cell Just scroll down to the Novels Header.

It's simply named Splinter Cell : Conviction and it's coming out in October 27th of this year. I hope it's going to be a parallel release alongside the actual game. That would be awesome.

I'd say its a safe bet to say that the game is coming out at around the same time as the book or on the same day.

It also says that in November, there wil be another book released. Does this mean that the franchise on Xbox isn't over? It just may be. We'll have to see. Nice post.

They need to bring back Benson. At least when he wrote it was all in first person. I preferred that over third person like in CheckMate and FallOut.

Yes , Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell were used as a title for novels which were written by David Michaels - pseudonym - ( The first two novels were written by the famous writer Raymond Benson . The other two novels were written by Grant Blackwood ) . It's good to know that Blackwood is gonna write another novel using the title ( Conviction ) but I don't think the story will be as same as the game because the first 4 novels weren't as same as the games' stories , the novels took the basics and the characters but the events were different and I think the same thing will happen with the novel of Conviction . Also , there's something strange , Blackwood will release two novels separated by almost one month Confused and it's called ( Endgame Eek ) , I am scared that the story title ( Endgame ) means that the game story will end , too Frown .

I'll still buy it. I still hoped to see Benson back but I hear he is involved with the MGS Novels.

I'm a member of Border's Bookstore. I get all of these coupons and what not. I also believe they pre-order as well.

It would be cool if the book gave us all the back story from the events leading up to Conviction ( Sam on The run in DC etc)

Yeah, I preferred the first two novels more only because they were in first person. You actually felt like Sam and had an attachment to his daughter you know, writing in first person is better for a franchise such as this. I'm halfway through fallout. I got it when it first came out but with school and all I never got time to read it. NOw that it's summer break I can Smile

I thought the next novel was going to be called "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Dead or Alive"?

I liked the first person chapters as well, but Benson's to dramatic. He's used to writing James Bond novels, so he adds silly things like moles and underground villain lairs with superweapons.

At least Blackwood tells simple good guy / bad guy stories that are more realistic...he used to be a military man himself I believe.

I agree benson was TOO dramatic. He made everything seem so super spy and cheesy. When Sam isn't a super spy. He's more of a normal man doing his job, his duty. He is just extraordinary to us because of the realistic part of his character when he is a video game character. I really did like first person though. It kept me reading alot more than the third person ones do.

Update on this book situation: I was at a Border's Bookstore and read at the pc kiosk that book #5 (released Oct 27...not the one with the Conviction Cover...so I presume it's the Endgame book) had a short description that roughly went like this:
  • After a series of deaths leave 3rd Echelon short on Splinter Cells, new Splinter Cells are brought in and information concerning the deaths lead to a mole in the agency...Sam Fisher...

I'm not sure that's exactly what it said, but that's about it and I couldn't find the description on their website, but it sounds pretty cool. Book #6 is said to come out on Nov 24, but has the Conviction book cover seen above. See site:
http://www.borders.com/online/...7s+Splinter+Cell+Ser.
Amazon says the Conviction book comes out first (but doesn't have the Hobo-Sam cover image next to it, the other book does?!?) I think they're mixing up their covers/books (i.e. - Conviction first with hobo-Sam cover, Endgame next with cover unknown). If anyone can get the full desciption, please post it. Thanks.

I see what you are saying, but Benson is a much better writer. (my opinion, of course)

You can't really appreciate the 2nd one (Op. Bara.) without reading the 1st (the one w/ no subtitle). I'd recommend Fallout, because it (SPOILER) introduces Sam's half brother. and has a pretty good story. Checkmate is good to, but it kind of lost me when it (SPOILER) introduces a fancy new superdrug called Jagged?!? WTF.
