The whole wait for dark thing could be said for every SC so thats not much of a reason. They made it work for the first three games why could they not just have the missions at night like before. It seem pretty simple to me. I am not sure where you keep getting this "ground breaking" idea from, every thing they showed us in the preview has been done b4.

Sam wasn't a fugitive, but a strategical pawn that was the best choice (out of SWAT, Army...) only during dark and stealth, plus there was plenty of things to do for NSA during days and Sam's leisure time. Sometimes Sam was almost a week away from field while Lambert and Grim were doing their job.
Sam's current situation is entirely different. That has been talked earlier though. Conviction is groundbreaking atleast to Splinter Cell series. And you guys keep complaining about how bad AC is, it being only example of current way showing Convictions fate, there's yours "the everything been done before" Stealth~AC Objects~Dead Rising World~GTA urban Fighting~True Crime Stealth, gadgets, story and universe~Splinter Cell I have never seen game combining all that and more. It was a preview, nothing confirmed, but those are likely the least amount and quality of features. Only way is up. Groundbreaking |

They Might Have Made Some Missions Rely On L/S Others Not Relying On L/S (Most Favorable Answer) But The Bottom Line Is That WE DON'T KNOW And that we shouldn't try to "attack the others" All We are doning by saying "This game sucks because {Insert criticisms here}" is making Ubisoft hate us. |

quote HEXUS Gaming As Sam seems to have dramatically changed, I suppose game play should have evolved the same… Could you tell us more? How this settlement will be different from previous episodes? MF- Splinter Cell core mechanics used to rely on lights and shadows. This was the major innovation of the original Splinter Cell, supported by a new technology, a techno that was not possibly imaginable on previous consoles. One of the ambitions of SC team for Conviction, was to take the same opportunity of next gen consoles to provide game play that was not possible before. We wanted to keep the particular relationship the player was developing with his environment through his experience. Only, as a fugitive, the relation needed to be faster and player also needs to think faster. We call this new game play: “improvisation”. This stealth relation with the environment remains an important factor; but tools and mechanics for the gamer are completely supporting this new fugitive context: you’ll need more than just shadows to stay alive! We don't really know what they are planning at this point but the preview they showed of the early build there was no L/S. I remember them saying that the L/S mechanic will not be included because Sam would not have access to his tacSUIT. I still hope they have or will change their minds on this issue but I have a sneaky suspicion that their pride as a company is now so much invested into this "hide in plain sight" gimmick that they would sooner burn Splinter Cell to the ground than show they might have been to hasty is this decision. @ Blabla84: Look at the date of the interview. May 2007... It's quite possible that most of that is defunct information with the changes they've been implementing.
@ soron. It's spelt suit. S U I T. Suet is a type of pudding. Sorry to be an ass about it, but that spelling mistake in your posts has really been bugging me. |

Most of the complaints are not about weather or not it looks good, the main complaint is that is does not look like a SC game... and the total lack of info for about 9 months. |

Yes. The game needs to go back to Chaos Theory and add this focus on crowds as a feature into Chaos Theory. Starting from a brand new point, saying that Conviction will be daylight based, crowd focused, is a mistake. It may work for a few levels but the stealth action genre is about being a ghost; sneaking around in the dark, not being seen or heard. |
