by on time i mean 2nd quarter...
i think they'll delay it once again the moment they'll reach their deadline (something around may). it probably sounds stupid but it seems like the dev team has lost their way with the game, and they keep trying to create nice flow of gameplay which they haven't reached yet... who thinks it will be out on july/August? i'm already counted *sorry for my english |

Dont really care, more delays means more time to make the game better. Lets just say, whenever MGS4 releases for the PS3, this game will be right around there.

Delays are common in the videogame industry now days. Early gaming would take several weeks to design, program and release on BBS systems (pre-Internet). Now games have large budgets and development time that rivals hollywood movies. I would not get my hopes up about any time they mention as a possible release. Those dates are considered "soft" and they can always delay. The complexity of these games is amazing. They're not only writing stories, designing characters and levels but these teams also have to build the technology. It takes a lot of programming to get a game engine to perform the way you need it to.
No major game studio licenses a game engine and then leaves it alone. They tweak it to do what they need. They re-code the physics, materials and shaders and make adjustment to the rendering engine until it all works together in harmony. From what I hear it took them months to build an animation system that could handle picking up any object in any position. Then they had to get the keyframes to interact with the physics engine in a realistic way. That might not mean much to you guys but that is the difference between a good game and a great game. I just hope they release before Duke Nukem Forever (joking.) |

Which is where specialized middleware/glueware comes in.
CT's menus, networking, AI, physics and rendering were prebuilt. Sure, it needed a lot of tweaking. But in general you can buy packages like that. Tools used in SCCT: Quazal - networking DemonWare - networking Unreal Engine 2.5 - rendering Havok - physics [forgot the name] - menus ------------------------------ Intel C2Q Q9450, OCZ Reaper 8GB DDR2-1066 (4x2GB), Club3D 4870 512MB OC'd @ 760/1060, Asus P5E, Xonar DX, Logitech G5. Pure pwnage @ 2048x1536 resolution. |

No way will it make it out on time for spring or summer 2008. Fall 2008 (not likely) or Spring 2009 is my guess.
Be prepared for a long wait and that means another year of complaints about light and shadow, UBI Shanghai, DA or whatever. |

I want it to be delayed, so Ubi can work out the screw-ups and try to fix or imoprove what they can.
