Through my experience with, which I do have, I would like to say with all due respect that I don't think, as a critic and a SC fan, that it would fit a game even like C... It's a good soundtrack, it could use a little more editing, but to me, a game like C would be more fit with a music style thats not as techno or electronic like the one you composed, but more of an intense combination of maybe strong bass(refering to anything that could make that up), and a range of soft and loud drumbs, etc... I'm not discrediting it, I just think that it would not fit to go with something like Splinter Cell Conviction.

Use the shadows to strike swiftly and silently, and only do otherwise if compromised...

I think the music needs to make the player more tense say like the guards start noticing your behavior so the music starts to change and make you more tense and also when in a combat situation the music needs to be really loud and stuff. It needs to make you think that you made a mistake and thats why this guy is following you or this guy is shooting you because of that.

Guy #1: Whats that? I heard something. Guy #2: You are always hearing things.
Guy #1: This time im pretty sure. Sam: I guess this time he was right.

@Shadow_Agent1 & ERN456:
ok, got Your ideas. Will work on it. But look, I'm playing the games as well, so if I would listen to a gamesoundtrack, I'd wish to listen to more action, more variety. There will be 11 tracks from my side for this game, I think, it'l be one track for every taste Wink.

Nobody knows the new ideas about SC: C, maybe it all will fit, we'll see.

Thanks for comments and critics, need more^^:

Hey NextSG,

Always nice to meet another Abelton 7 user Thumbs Up

First off, I think both tracks (and the rest of the tracks in your player) sound fantastic and are extremely well produced. You have a definite style that I think could really suit the Splinter Cell series, but I'd like to hear a few more ideas of what you've got planned.

The "Mission Escape" track is very good and I think really captures a part of the Splinter Cell feel. I think you know this already so I won't comment on it.

Splinter Cell soundtracks have always been very percussion based, but have also been quiet gritty and uncomfortable. The first track in your player "Is that my way to go" is (in my Splinter Cell opinion) too synth based. It relies too much on the synth to carry it through until the strings (which I really do like) arrive. I think the strings do create a very American sense of national and military pride that suit the game, and they help in forming an image of Washington in my head (for whatever reason). I could see them being used in a scene which sweeps over the city scape before arriving on Sam, but I just find that the synth you're using is far too light and doesn't have enough substance or texture for in game play. It doesn't sound "serious" enough to me. The piece actually puts me at ease the whole time that I'm listening to it, which I think a Splinter Cell track should rarely do.

They should always have second guessing what's coming next and questioning what is actually happening at this moment in time! Twisted sampling is your friend and is, in my opinion, why Amon Tobin's soundtrack worked so well for Chaos Theory!

Also I think each track needs alot more percussive elements that can come to life. It's always been a staple of each game's soundtrack that the tracks can at any time explode into a manic assault of instruments that are supposed to re create that SHOCK feeling your nerves get when you've been caught. Although, based on the limited knowledge we have of the game it seems that Sam will be noticed alot so I wouldn't make the shift as drastic as Amon Tobin did.

Also, creating a sense of paranoia and lonlieness in each tune is something that you should aim for, but also have a strong ultimate drive to the soundtrack as that's what Sam has always been about! The two previous soundtracks that stand out in my mind are the ones from the Original and Chaos Theory. Both were very electronic and edgy and were exteremly effective. Anyone who says that the soundtrack to Splinter cell shouldn't be electronic is wrong (IMO), because they have always been very technologicaly advanced games, though you're in the first position where the high end technology has been removed from the game so you do have a chance to do whatever you please!

But I hope you use a nice mixture of both.

Hope this helps and really looking forward to hearing what else you have in the works!!

@oO_ShadowFox_Oo:

wow first of all: THANK YOU VERY MUCH for these kind words. I'm working really hard on my tracks to bring only the best to my listeners, so thank You that You've seen this.

Your post is THE POST - I mean, that is, what I was waiting for. This is the post from a Composer and Splinter Cell fan, really nice.

You are the first user, who asked me about my ideas. Normally I never talk about my unfinished tracks, but for this long post, I'll tell You all the "Soundtrack Story":

Playlist and what the tracks are about:

01. NxSG - Last Chance To Stay Alive (orchestral, sad, beautiful track)

This track is about lost friends and new life. I thought that the gamemakers will make a flashback to Sam's life and what he has lost, when he was an agent.

02. NxSG - Souldealer
(aggro, electrical, orchstral, ups&downs)

This one is about the people, who let Sam be what he is.

03. NxSG - Only One Step To Die
(slowly and fast, electrical, orchestral)

This track is what everybody is talkiing about - Sam near to his enemy, "would he be seen or not?!"

04. NxSG - Is That My Way To Go
(orchstral, electrical, just a mistery)

I think this one is for "loading" and/or for "the mission is completed" window.

05. NxSG - Every Second New Emotion
(electrical, orchestral, magical)

This track should be at the beginnig of every mission.

06. NxSG - Breaking The Door From The Inside

07. NxSG - If I Could Look Into Your Eyes

08. NxSG - Nothing There

09. NxSG - Still Alive Although Already Dead

10. NxSG - Get Back To The Underground

will see, what they would be...

11. NxSG - Mission: Escape
(electrical house, breakbeat, fast and slow)

Bonus Track: NxSG - You Are
(orchestral)

For credits, TV-Spot, or something else.

So there are my ideas I'm working on.

Hope You'll enjoy the final product. Will give my best as always.

Need more comments and listeners.

Thanks,

a-chill

NxSG

PS: the original Soundtrack will be composed by the "Superman Returns-Trailer" composers: Michael Nielsen and Kaveh Cohen

Do you have Purevolume?

I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, but would it be possible to put electric guitars in some of them? It would be pretty sweet if you're running from the cops, and theres an electric guitar mixed in the soundtrack.

Just an idea...
