It would also fit into the SCC scenario because what Sam does in my little story is a distraction and he does that by making use of his environment. Smile

But he's not in a crowd, and he knows he's being pursued.

Blowing up something in order to distract an unaware policeman just to get past them is overkill. Stealing a cell phone, or whatever, and having the person you stole it from run up to the policeman and distract them is more my style (though I don't love the stealing part); it's much easier to dismiss, and they wouldn't (shouldn't) assume something's horribly amiss.

True, but I mentioned he had past it. Smile

Doesn't that every fugitive? And he also noticed the shadow - maybe because of his hero vision? Wink2

That's why they are options - they will enable everyone to play the game the way he / she wants to play (Sandbox style). Smile

Do we actually have confirmation that the spy Sam killed was the one from CT co-op?

It's a joke! When you look at me like that, it's a joke.

Only visual confirmation. Simply compare his outfit with the outfit of the coop spies - it matches perfectly! Smile

On the other hand, we do know since SCPT that Sam is no longer the only Splinter Cell out there - maybe it's been a member from a different Shadownet Team. Smile

That's what I thought, to be honest it never occurred to me that it would be the co-op spy from CT. I always just assumed all the Splinter Cells wear the same kind of thing, maybe with a few different colours. Sam would be different for a number of obvious reasons (to stand out, the trifocal goggles were his trademark etc).

Have a look at the "upgraded" Shadownet Teams used in SCDA - the trifocal look is no longer exclusive to Sam - but rather Splinter Cell in general. Wink2

In the training missions in SC1 if you find the secret door and talk to grim she says she left "2nd Echelon" maybe in Conviction, 2nd Echelon agents can be after Sam and they are Jason Bourne type spies.

maybe it can be like this

ECHELON - (intelligence and communication) *btw ECHELON is a real organization of the NSA

2ND ECHELON - Assasinations, Penetration and Real Time Intelligence

3RD ECHELON + SHADOWNET - Extreme Top Secret Operations, Real Time intelligence in a denied Area, Impossible Operations

I haven't heard mention of 2nd Echelon since then... I doubt they would bring in an Easter Egg from a game that came out 5 years ago and turn it into a major plot point. It's a possibility though, I guess.

Actually Second Echelon was based on electronic information gathering. Since that failed on more secret intel, they reverted back to humans like Sam.

Which is when Third ECHELON was made for a combination of human interaction, and electronically based espionage to more than double intel gathering, and also flexibilty for U.S. intelligence gathering agencies to expand and do more things at once.

That's exactly what I had in mind! Smile

Try to imagine:

It's almost night. The only light sources around are streetlambs, the stars, the moonlight and some of these neon-ads of the various stores. Sam managed to get past the crowd in broad daylight, pulled his hood up and is now on his way to a safe zone. Suddenly his well trained ears hear the silent hum of a set of multivision goggles being turned on. And the next thing he sees, is a dark shadow on the other side of the street. Sam instantly knows who's after him and starts moving faster. His pursuer follows him. Sam starts running. A homeless person that's sitting on the street and drinking some alcohol (the usual wrapped in paper stuff) next to a large can (which is burning) get's into Sam's field of view. As he runs past the man, he grabs the alcohol and tosses it into the can - fueling the fire. For a short moment, a large fireball shoots out of the can. The homeless guy is shocked and runs away. Sam used that moment and turned left, running into a street - knowing the nighvision of the goggles of his pursuers were certainly not able to compensate the sudden lightflash originating from the fireball - blinding him for at least a short moment.

He hides behind a large dumpster in one of the dark alleys. A shadow is sneaking out of the darkness...it's a Shadownet spy. He's keying his subdermals while looking around. "Dammit, it seems I lost him."

Suddenly Sam is grabbing him from behind.

Sam: "Hey...nice goggles - I used to have one of these."

Shadownet Spy: "Ungh...yes...I know."

Sam: "Good. Now listen, I didn't have much sleep lately so you might easily make me angry by not listening to me and if I'll get angry I'll make this..."

*Sam intensifies his grab*

Shadownet Spy: "OUCHHHH! Ok, ok I understand."

Sam: "Good. So tell whoever sent you after me, that he should better have a look at his neck during the next few days, because my hands will be on it, as soon as I get close enough."

Shadownet Spy: "Arghh....I'll do."

Sam: "Good boy!"

Shadownet Spy: "So you're gonna leave me alive?"

Sam: "Of course. We're on the same side - somehow - but I think you need a break."

Shadownet Spy: "A br.."

*Sam's elbow hit's the Shadownet spy's body and incapacitates him instantly - ending the conversation.*

Sam grabs the spy's OPSAT and comments the performance of his pursuer by shaking his head, smiling.

Sam:"Amateur".

Then walks off.
that would be pretty awesome .that would be a sweet trailer for the game.

Really? Hmm...maybe I shouldn't have sent the other idea to them, already then? Personally I don't think that would be a good teaser / trailer concept but rather some sort of mid-mission cutscene after Sam left Washington Park. Smile

Ah well, none of these two is going to make it into a trailer, anyway - they'll probably come up with their own trailer concept and use that one instead (however, after the Ubi Days SCC trailer, the next official one can only be better). Indifferent

I really like this idea(except for the alcohol part)..however the interrogation you have constructed is really good. Keep it up. Clap

Who knows, maybe the guys who ruined Sam's life in SC:C, have been with Second Echelon and are now trying to make it look like Third Echelon failed it's objectives or got corrupt, in order to get their power back. Maybe they are even after a larger target - like Shettland did in SCCT. We'll see. Wink2

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! Smile

I had to include the alcohol because the liquid had to be flameable and fit into the setting in order for the concept to work. Wink2

Anyone interessted in my other Trailer idea (gotta warn you, that one is even longer than this one)? Smile

Don't know how I missed this thread. I like the ideas being tossed about here.

A level where Sam has to evade other Splinter Cells that are stalking him. Hmmm. Interesting. Very interesting.

Not just evade - overwhelm and interrogate in order to gather additional intel or even equipment! Wink2

BTW: Does anyone know why I didn't let Sam take the goggles as well? Wink2

What an awesome, story driven way for a fugitive Sam to restock on his spy gear. Take the toys from other Splinter Cells hunting you! That would be cool.

It's actually one of the ways you can stock up your gear in SCC, as you can see in the trailer where Sam knocks out one of the guards and then takes his equipment (radio / gun), in order to use it against his opponents (like in Enemy of the State - damn good movie and quite realistic btw.). Wink2
