AgreeYeah man...we've only seen a trailer and a demo since the spring of 2007. Neither of them had anything indoors. The closest thing was an outdoor restaurant with a roof over it.
So what makes you think there will be indoor stuff?[..]
Ubisoft Montreal and it's released screenshots.

That's the agressive action. No stealth. Learn to read.

If you look closely, the enemy is already jumping over something, so Sam has been spotted and is taking cover. That's not the same as hiding in the sense of 'stealth'.

It also looks like there's a guy shooting at him by the window. Tongue

Yeah, I want to see some really stealthy stuff - they could show the same section being done in the various ways...that would be nice... Smile

Fine, you got us on the indoor elements. But two screenshots doesn't mean it will take up the majority of the game like the Alanake guy said.
And though he didn't necessarily answer what I asked, Scworld/Frvge is still right. That's action....not stealth, which is something I tend to look for in a Splinter Cell game.
Smith why aren't you more worried? Confused
You have that much faith in Montreal or something.

An upcoming novel by me.
Thanks Melonie for the sig!

True, but it also doesn't mean the majority of the game will take place in Washington Park or in a Café. Wink2

First of all, it's a screenshot which means, it only shows a very brief moment of gameplay - none of us know what happened before they took the screenshot. Maybe they underestimated the AI and have been detected, or they simply wanted to show how detailed the indoor environment is going to be etc. Smile

I've been following SCC's progress from the very first minute I heard about it, while I've been working at Ubi. During that time, I heard of all the changes that are going to come with this fifth game, saw some (still) confidential stuff and voiced my concerns as a Splinter Cell (and Tom Clancy in general) fan regarding a few things (that includes the first trailer / teaser). So basically I've been trying to tell my colleauges and superiors, how the community is going to react to this and that change (obviously, I've been right with my assumptions).

However, I also had the opportunity to have a few interesting discussions with people who are involved in the project and I still have a few contacts here and there. Because of all that, I think I have a good idea of what's going to be in the final game.

I do have some faith in Montreal because of what I mentioned above, because of the people who are involved and because of the studio's track record, yes. Still, that doesn't mean I don't question some decisions or have any doubts but I always try to see a situation from both perspectives - mine as a fan / editor / moderator and Ubi's as a developer / publisher.

However, I'm also simply aware of one fact: None's forcing me to buy a game I don't like.

To some of you SC means goggles, high tech gadgets / stealth suits as well as light & shadow game mechanics and that definition is ok (I still love the "classic" SC games) but to me SC is a bit more than just that. To me, SC is about various nations, politics, conspiracies, everyone of the characters of the Splinter Cell universe, their motivations, their plans, their actions, their history, their destiny, their emotions but also about the atmosphere, the soundtrack, the animations, the gadgets, the humour, the script, the action and the stealth gameplay (which doesn't necessarily mean light & shadow, but also diversion tactics, deceptions etc.). I love SC because of Claudia Besso's portray of Grim, Don Jordan's portray of Lambert, Michael Ironside's fantastic way to bring Sam to life, the character details J.T. created for the very first game as well as the outstanding dramatic events / cutscenes, Martin Caya's original Sam model (and the new ones Ubi created), the dedication of the Team to even the smallest details (like the Predator writing on Sam's goggles, the fact that the subdermal implant had to be activated before each Mission etc.), the way Clint Hocking helped to evolve the series with Chaos Theory, the idea of WNM, the truly innovative gameplay (closer than ever) with the knife in SCCT (the majority of games only offer a knife as a weapon), the depth of Annecy's SCPT multiplayer, the outstanding ideas of Milan's SCCT coop mode etc. To me, there's a huge number of things what makes a game to a SC game and so far Montreal has yet to fail in creating a great SC game - especially when Ferland, Le Page and a lot of other people who created the original Splinter Cell / Chaos Theory are in charge.

Every splinter cell game has been really fun. But this new splinter cell game is just gonna kick some major a$$!!! I mean look at the new game play elements. You're fugitive on the run and constantly on the look out for enemies. This is active stealth. This is where you're true splinter cell skills will be put to the test. And the way you can interact with the environment is flawlessly clever. Plus the CQC moves and new stealth approach are an amazing new twist to the game play of splinter cell. And not to mention the open environment makes a non-linear approach to the game.

When I hear you talk like that Smith i'm believing abit more it's going the right way.
But I think people like the "oh-so-mean-idea" to hide in the dark, to scare/surprise people, where you have the advantage on other enemies since they don't have nightvision etc. But also losing the miltiplayer concept we have put so much time and effort into.

2 things, you playd every game of SC? Including the DS version? Incl both DA versions? Sorry but I think alot of people agree with me that the NG version of DA wasn't "really fun".
And the 2nd part of the post I quoted, that gives the feeling I just have to run all the time, instead of hide/sneak and strike when the right moment is there.

Lambert: It will be a shock but you won't get the bends
Fisher (irritated): Next time, you're going on the mission and i'm making up the crazy plan

FYI: I was referring to a post about the stance (the hiding thing). Not the fact that there were indoor screens by someone above me. So nice try, but it failed.

I have been a Splinter Cell fan since the first one (although, I haven't played Essentials), and I think its a good change.
Its something new and fresh for the series with the active stealth and the total environment interaction. And also, who knows, Ubi could've put in some missions/parts of missions, where you have the option to go 'classic' Splinter Cell style.

ps.I'm keen for this one, I just hope they hurry up and release some information on whats happening! Googly Hammer Googly Googly
