Since the hate for Conviction is litterally taking up every single thread on this board, I figured it was time to make a little sanctuary for us who think the game actually looks good! Big Grin

So everyone who actually wants to express good thoughts and love for this new game, please post here! And you know the saying:

"If you don't got something nice to say, don't say anything at all!" Wink2

I like how you infer that the fans are "pro-conviction" and everyone else that doesn't like the direction of the game isn't.

I've been playing the SC series since the first game. I think that qualifies me as a fan.

I'm glad you guys like the the idea of this thread and the idea for the game! I'm totally hyped for it too! It's been a while since I was this excited for a game! Conviction looks awesome IMO! Thumbs Up I love the idea. I've always liked games like this. I love free-will and when the free-will is mixed with my fave game series, I know it has to be good. Wink2 I'm still amazed that you can pick up anything you want!! Surprised

Geez talk about sensitive! Indifferent I didn't mean it like that. When I said "For The Fans", I just ment the fans of Conviction, not in general. Roll Eyes

Perhaps you should have added "of Conviction" in the thread title? As it stands, you get people like lochang19 and myself wandering about here in this thread where we're not wanted... Wink

Aww I'm sorry you had to miss out on the last 2 games pietjevlip. That sucks! Frown If it makes you feel any better, I had to miss out on Essentials as well. Hopefully we both get to enjoy the greatness that is Conviction when it comes out! Big Grin

I like the premise of the game and I like the character of Sam Fisher (don't we all?), and I will admit that it does sound like a good combination, but I'm still skeptical that it's going to be pulled off in a fashion that will satisfy the fans, that came to appreciate the level of depth that has been bred into the Splinter Cell series over the years, because it's a first outing in a new direction.

Like Assassin's Creed, I reckon it will be lacking in certain areas simply because they don't *really* know what they're doing, but I am definitly excited about being proven wrong!

There are some certain situations that I think could really shine through with the gameplay they have in mind.

Such as having to tail an agent, you know to be involved in your case, through an area or into a building to retrieve some information etc.. Obviously you'll have to melt with the crowd and avoid detection by the guards, but you get spotted and have to withdraw to an alley to deal with a guard. Suddenly you can't spot your mark in the crowd so you have to scale a ladder to reach the top of a building and activate your hero vision (which I personally think should just slightly focus your POV in the area of interest, not make it completely obvious with a large glowing HUD)
Your mark is obviously close to the entrance to the building and you know it will become extremely difficult to locate him inside so you have to stall him somehow. Do you....

A) Shoot the Propane tank
B) Shoot the Propane tank
or
C) Throw a stolen telephone near where he's standing and hope the battery explodes and ignites the propane tank

(sorry, couldn't resist)

A) Drop down from the roof and bolt towards him and hope no guards get alerted
B) Cause a bit of ruckus in the crowd and hope he gets involved
C) Try and locate him inside the building through means of checking the building phone directories on the main computer

What I'm just really worried about is that the crowd isn't going to *actually* be smart. Obviously you can understand that not every one of them is going to be perfect AI, but taking the above example B), I would think that if you caused a bit of ruckus in the crowd that people near by would get involved and check to see what's happening close to them. I would also expect that seeing as this character is obviously moving towards an important objective, that he wouldn't be just another member of the crowd, and he would ignore the claims for "someone stole my phone!" because he has prior obligations to finish an important mission, like catching Sam Fisher...

But I think that this simple "he stole my phone" gag or "he did something slightly morally wrong" could be overplayed...

This is why we want more info!! Just give us a BASIC idea of what kind of things we can do....

Yes like you, I am also worried about the 'A.I.', and the way the 'Social Stealth' will be presented. I wish UBI , add some 'non aggressive' approaches to the game. However, I am pretty much excited for the game. Smile

Yeah, I'd like to see some basic intelligence gathering aswell, only problem is, all ppl might not think about looking in a directory unless someone or something points it out to you...

I doubt any "tailing the agent" sequences will be in the game. The game already seems more like people chasing him, not the other way around. So, someone on Sam's tail seems more likely...at least to me.

So just because sam is a fugitive in SCC every level will be about him running away?

Nope, half of the game he is supposedly not a fugitive and didnt you hear the objectives that were in place for that level we saw? It was the usual "find information" objective.

yeah, I believe half of the game is true Splinter style so that should appeal to the hardcore Splinter fans. Then a twist and it is Bourne style gameplay incorporated into the game. Sounds like a frikkin sweet idea to me man! I just hope they improve on the spots where they made mistakes in Assassin's Creed and make things less repetetive. But anyways, superstoked for the game, just wish we could get some info and screens!

For Ubi's sake I hope you're right. So far, most people on the forums have been tearin' Ubisoft a new one over this game. Check out Stealthy's post on this same page to see what I mean.

An upcoming novel by me.
Thanks Melonie for the sig!

Im probably one of the biggest stealth-light and shadow fans out there but i've always supported Ubi in their decisions by buying their games, and not just SC. I'm still sceptical about Convictions but that, i think, is just the excitment of a new SC game.Wink

Like you guys, I have my concerns and worries about the game, I do for every game I wanna play. Wink2 But I think everyone (the haters) is being way too hard on the game and on UBI! Angry Blue Guy

This is UBI after all and not just UBI, it's Montreal, the people that not only created the wonderful Splinter Cell franchise, they were the ones that brought us the best games in the franchise! Big Grin

Besides, IMO, Assassins Creed turned out awesome! It had it's faults just like every other game does but I'm sure whatever faults it had will be fixed in Conviction! Both teams are working together after all so the Creed people can right their wrongs and help the Conviction people do it better! Big Grin

We definately need some more info! I'm going crazy!! Mean Happy
