I've just had a quick game of Assassins Creed, got through the tutorial and started playing the main game!!!
Oh My God!!!
Its incredible, stunning beyond belief.

If Conviction is anything like it and I would expect it to be (Its probably even built on the same Games Engine) then I can't wait.

Ubisoft, say what you want, the delays are a royal pain but they don't half know how to make a decent game.


I loooooooooove Stealth soooooo much!!!!

It's kind of funny. I felt the same way about AC the first few hours of play. But after finishing it, then trying to go back a replay it I relized that it was very boring. I can't even imagine playing a multiplayer mode like that. It would get so boring really quick.

AC is awesome, no doubt but its WAY to repetitive.
But i think that SCC wont be repetitive at all.

Yes, they're going to be very similar, in terms of concept and idea.

Social stealth is basically going to be one of the only things they're going to share.

In terms of mechanics, AI, and design, they are going to be two very, very different games.

For example, you know how a lot of the crowds of AC had a very limited amount of things to say to you? What's he doing? That man must be mad. Is he out of his mind? He's going to hurt himself, and when he does, I won't help him. That stuff was repeated over and over. But ConViction has, as of a year ago, over 3,000 recorded conversations. By now it could be 4,000. It's going to feel immersive.

And also, the enemies of AC functioned so much differently than ConViction's are being designed to act as. The police are actively hunting Sam and so he must stay hidden at all times. You could walk right up to the guards in AC and gently push them, bump into them to an extent, and even engage in fights in front of them, and they didn't care. Engaging in a fight in front of a cop in ConViction will have an entirely different effect.

And in ConViction, there will be no option to hide on top of a building or inside a hay stack so the crowd stealth must be doubly good. And you can sit at a bench or use a payphone in ConViction, but those won't be hide spots like AC's. I'm sure sitting on a park bench won't make you invisible to the cops this time around, just limit their suspicion of you for awhile.

god, i hope not.
Assassins Creed was good, for what it did. but it was waaaaayyyy too repetetive.

I removed it to make room for CnC3. I think I played for 3 hours, and by the 2nd hour it was already repetitive. The beginning is indeed cool, but if you're forced to do the same 10 times with little variety, then it sucks.

Lol, when I first got it, I can't remember how long I played it...

I bought it on Wednesday afternoon, started playing as soon as I got home, played all night, played all day Thursday, almost all night that night, and finally went to bed.

I was a couch potato for those two days, basically. And sleepy for the next two days.

I can see why people say it's repetitive, but so are plenty of other games. GRAW2 mostly has you shooting people. Where's the recon in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2? Where do you take hostages, destroy a bridge, blow up a SAM site? Now you shoot people, lots of people.

But still, it's a great game. And AC I think is still an amazing game.

All I know is I havent seen graphics like it, they are incredible and I love the idea of a medievil hoodie!!!!

Only had it a few hours and unlike SC where I just get straight into it, I am taking my time becuae the atmospheres are so incredible.

Thanks for the up LaurenIsSoMosh, I dont understand much about gRAPHICS eNGINES AND THE LIKE...

nooooooo. booo. AC crowd stealth was nothing like it should have been. The crowd doesn't really hide you and most of the time you end up killing everybody anyway.

Lol, don't thank me, I have no idea about that stuff... I just repeat what I read here and in articles, I couldn't tell you anything about what goes on behind a game or a computer.

The cities are cool, and the freerunning's fun (actually, the easy 100%'s kinda nice too [doesn't happen often with me...]), but stealth? Not so much...

The idea is pretty neat but my expectation regarding the 'Social Stealth' in SC is even higher.However like I said earlier that inaddition to 'Social Stealth' the 'light and shadow' approach should also be included, so that we players can choose how to play the game.

Exactly the way I feel. I don't understand why people have such low expectations for the crowds. When I watch the Ubidays gameplay presentation, I keep telling myself there's no way these crowds are the same as Assassin's Creed, they function so much better.

The only thing I have left that I want to see is the ability to cause a mass panic and then run away with the crowd. They've said it's possible, I'm pretty sure they also said it would be possible for Assassin's Creed, but it wasn't, and when I see it happen for Splinter Cell, I will be satisfied that this is an excellent social stealth mechanic.

But as it stands, I practically think that already.

Agree Agreed! Also in AC, you had very limited interaction with the crowds. For example: You could interact with certain people such as templars for cover, vigilantes for protection and the guys you can pickpocket for throwing knives. However the rest of the people are mostly there to look cool and to get in your way when you are on the run. But it seems that in Conviction, you are able to interact with everyone, you can blend in with anyone and you can pickpocket alot more people. The crowd is definately alot more advanced for Conviction then for AC. Also like you said, guards aren't as big of idiots in Conviction as they are in AC. Playing on the normal difficulty on SC will probably be like playing the hardest difficulty on AC. Guards are alot more aware. I'm guessing if you were to beat up a civilian infront of them, they aren't gonna stand there and laugh like in AC.

I think what everyone loved about AC will be in SC and what everyone hated will be removed or made better.

The way I see it, AC was more a test to see if it could be done and if so, how would people take the new gameplay idea. Despite it's repeditiveness, the game sold very well and was quite a success. I can only imagine how great SC 5 will do when we finally get somemore footage and gameplay info. Especially taking into consideration that Splinter Cell already has a very well established name for itself. Plus the fact that it is taking them so long to finish is actually making me feel alot better. I don't get how people can complain about them taking so long finishing, despite the fact they are also complaining about how bad the crowds in AC were. Roll Eyes You should take comfort in the fact that the game is taking so long cause they are obviously spending alot more time on the crowd AI then they did in AC! Thumbs Up

Amen to that. I'm a little annoyed by the media blackout, but I'm buying this game the minute it comes out. If the "social stealth" mechanic is loads better than AC (since AC's was pretty basic, to use a euphemism, and Conviction doesn't have parkour to balance the fun factor), Montréal is in for another winner. Hobo Sam has my vote. Can't wait to go Jason Bourne on he guards I've been sneaking up on for the past five games (counting both DA versions).
