As we all probably know, the splinter cell series is being rebooted and all the light and dark is replaced by a more urban, crowd-based stealth game. To this very day, I am an avid fan of splinter cell multiplayer, and I think that while the core concepts of SC multiplayer which are cat-and-mouse, objective based stealth should be preserved, but changes should be made.

Ditch the proximity detector, replace it with sound detector again. Drones are fine. Give spies back an upfront melee attack like an elbow-strike or a punch, or even just a shove. Replace that ridiculous spinning-beserk move with a new move like the mercenary just starts swinging his rifle around blindly, the same move but a different more realistic animation. Head butting is cool, leave that!

I loved how athletic the spies were and the escape moves, but it should be expanded. Bring back wall flipping, it was helpful! It would be cool if you pressed the escape button as a mercenary was charging you, you could do an escape move where you dodge and push him out of the way.

Just random ideas I thought would be cool.

Please bring back Spies Vs. Mercenaries Multiplayer!

You can ask all you want but UBI doesnt listen or care. One thing they need to do is look at the front forum page, there is more bad talk about Conviction then good. Just look for yourself.

Staying true to the form, Id like to see the spies more stealthy like PT CT days, wall hugging and etc. As far as the charge dodging don't add that thats a bad idea, i'd like it to be more skill orianted then hiting a button to avoivd it, it be to easy. Same with berserk leave that too, just learn to avoid it.

Yeah, maybe a dodge button is a dumb idea. But one thing I found was that in Double Agent, a lot of people found playing as mercenary a boring experience, since a lot of the danger was removed from Chaos Theory (ex: Being overcome with smoke, elbow strikes.) While spies should not be too powerful, two spies should be dangerous to a lone mercenary.

Hopefully Conviction multi is like CT I would like to see ever thing from ct multiplayer, even mines
the only thing i liked in da of spys was hacking the mercs suit and all those agil moves but it didnt make up for the elbow attack or the gun

on the merc side the proxy detectior ruined everything. In CT a spy could be sneakin behind a box and the merc wouldnt know unless the sound tracker heard it, Mines were great in Ct, and drones were good thats all that id want in conviction multi and the old kind of objectives

We all have to consider the most-likely alternative, that is crowd stealth. I'm curious as to how we can blend in with the crowds, and how the connection will fair with NPCs walking around. Ofcourse, it will have to be randomized because think about it, players playing the game for the hundredth time will learn how the NPCs move and will quickly seek out people who are out of the ordinary.

i really loved spy versus mercenary and never played spy vs spy but i'd imagine it to be ****...

i remember how i once killed a mercenary with the cheap elec-shock spy-gun, i kept shooting him for quite a while from my nice hideout over his head.

i hope they make the conviction multiplayer a cat and mouse type of gameplay, like some watch ppl with bodyarmor and mps versus some people without bodyarmor and with nothing but pistols or something. of course there should also be gadgets like flashbangs and smoke and so on.
it was great fun to flash mercenaries in spy vs mercenary and then just get away.

would also be fun if they'd make it 3vs3 or 4vs4 max instead of just 2vs2.
i hope they dont create two equal teams...

well, i dont remember if it was the shock-gun which killed him, but there were no alterations in the game files done and it was just normal multiplayer, also i remember that i killed the guy on range and not in close combat...
so i think that it was the shock-gun because i dont remember any other ranged weapon that the spy had... well, and the merc died..

Let me start by saying this: I believe that Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory were the best multiplayer games ever made. Playing on two unique sides in a high-tech cat and mouse game was the most fun I've ever had online bar none. The depth and complexity of Splinter Cell PT & CT multiplayer was so ridiculously satisfying that I could play for marathon sessions of over 12 hours straight on the weekends.

That being said, I thought Double Agent was OK, but I missed the depth that it's two predecessors brought to bear and a large part of that was due to the changes to gadgets. I like the drone and hacking device, but I'd like to see the expansion of the gadgets back to what they used to be. I understand the reasoning behind toning things down. New players could find the game overwhelming when they realized how many gadgets they needed to know and look out for. Those who didn't understand them must have felt pretty frustrated when they were constantly being spotted, blown up, or gassed. However, I feel that the many gadgets that both teams had available to them in PT and CT really made the game much more interesting. When a player took the time to learn how to use their arsenal of toys to the fullest extent, the game took on a much more satisfying depth and became a thinking game which demanded a great amount of skill, creativity, and cleverness to succeed against competent opponents.

Part of the lure of playing as a mercenary was setting up good defenses, not just keeping good patrols. Sure, it can be a lot to learn, but once you understood how to set up a defense, it made playing both sides that much more satisfying. I miss having to check for mines and spy traps. I miss finding devious places to put mines and spy traps. I loved the feeling of listening in to a bugged spy's conversation when he was completely unaware that I knew where he was and what he was saying. It was these gameplay moments which greatly enhanced the experience of online play and they were enabled because of the deep arsenal of gadgets.

I hope that you don't shy away from bringing back the library of gadgets. Sure, it means that there is a steep learning curve involved in mastering the multiplayer, but much of that can be addressed with thorough tutorials and training matches. Please don't shy away from your bold vision of a complex multiplayer game which you showed us in Pandora Tomorrow and came so close to perfecting in Chaos Theory! I stand by my statement that those were the best multiplayer games I've ever played in my life!

PS - Bring back the old schools maps! Schermerhorn, Mount Hospital, Krauser, and Deftech Belew!

I always hated them for the gadget removal. If surely they could have just slowly introduced gadgets to the player as the won/lost more games on either side? Most games do it now and its a great way of gradually introducing the player.

I think that's a good idea that's been implemented successfully in a few games out there. I'm guessing that the developers are looking at games to see what ideas would work well in Splinter Cell. I would hope that the same process is being used for the development of multiplayer. Call of Duty 4 does a good job of introducing new players to the perk and weapons systems by introducing a leveling system and unlockables as experience increases. I think that idea would need some modifications because facing off players against who don't know to look our for spy traps because they haven't unlocked them would be problematic. The basic concept is sound, but if I were calling the shots, I'd try to deal with the learning curve by designing effective training levels and testing them thoroughly on players with less experience. I hope that they're already doing that because as I said before, gadgets like the mines and traps made the game so much more interesting and satisfying.

honestly the multiplayer is the only thing i doubt about this game.crowd multiplayer seems like it would be very repetitive.but who knows it could be fun.

Very honestly, most of the sc fans would love a 3 vs 3 like it is today or 4VS4 bigger maps, better graphics and in the dark. A game play similar to scct360 (gadgets) for spies, proximity mines etc and some scda gadgets (DRONES) for mercs with extra moves. I can't figure out how they will make it work if we need to blend in a crowd ? I am really a great fan so I will wait and see.

Dude, where did you pull that from. I bet you most people DON'T want 3 Vs 3. I deffinately didn't like it in DA..but then again I hated DA. DA was fun, but maybe for like a couple of days due because of its lack of depth. It was no where near as good as CT and nowhere near addicting, at least for me. i was hooked on PT/CT for several years till DA just ruined it all

long live CT mp

Face it, guys, just face it - you ain't gonna have the good old multiplayer from PT and CT reintroduced in Conviction. Just live with it. Of course it may bother you, but we've got Project Stealth to bring it back, and even in a much better version, so just forget about it in Conviction.

And how 'bout not judging a game you know something near nothing about? You’ve got no idea about, how the gameplay will be, and yet most of you (and the community here in general) have already started to criticize it a lot. I just don’t get it, really.

Personally, I still love the multiplayer in PT and CT, though I think it's time to try something new and interesting (crowded multiplayer ect.).
