I tried a search on this, but got lost in a sea of derailed threads and hypotheses. Has Ubi ever OFFICIALLY come out and said which game (current- or next-gen version) is the plot leading into ConViction?
Thank you for your help, and if there is a clear thread devoted to this topic, please let me know! |

It looks like a continuation from DA from xbox 360.

Yes this is the thing that bothers me. Xbox version and the first playthrough feels most right to me. Lambert survived, Hamza survived, Ship exploded etc. How to explain all those convincincly? Kind like KOTOR, somewhat confusing story.
No matter as long as its clear. Halo 3 changed bit too much when Brutes became main enemy and some idiot changed Prophet of Truth at same time with old crapmy voice and shape, plus leaving Elites pretty much out of game and Grunts and Hunters becoming enemies. Videos or keeping Truth more like Halo2 version would have been much clearer. |

I heard that it follows the story of SC:E not DA |

Man, I'd forgotten about "Essentials". That's another whole can of worms. It's amazing to me to think about how quickly this franchise became fragmented.
Oh well, I suppose it'll all be clear when the ONE & ONLY version of ConViction comes out... whenever it's done. I can't WAIT! |

i know people have been confused about this but i was thinking.... would it relly matter what way you completed the game, i mean the first one the ship. they dont even need to mention it and enrica is in prison and you will never see her again. 2, hisham. he is part of the cia and i doubt we will ever meet him again. and the most confusing one, lambert. even if you shot lambert or the other guy( cant remember his name) all jba are dead or in prison. and lambert survived wether you shot him or not. it wouldnt matter at all which version you do it in.

Doesnt really cover the Original Xbox version. Topic refers to DA's. I dont know anything of 360 so i just list: Iceland (-) Penitentiary (Kill or stun prisoner) JBA 1 (Info to Lambert or Emile) Money Train (Kill or stun Chief) Cozumel (Disable ot Protect Enrica's phone Okthotsk (-) Kinshasa (Kill or save Hisham) JBA 2 (Disable or protect bombs, Reveal or secure Lamberts identity) New York (-, Sam kills everyone, Enrica gets killed too) And those are the biggest parts. Cut scenes with Sam and Redding talking and side objectives change the game permanetly. Lambert is either alive or confirmed dead by Emiles gorillas, Enrica is killed by other Splinter Cell etc. It doesnt make sense that DA would be just forgotten. Why would Sam otherwise be at his current point, and i dont like to play unreleated dream stories. DA is storywise the best presentation of series. Last betrayal extermination on New York skyscrapers during epic music, talking to Emile and seeing Enrica killed and Sam's reaction to that were something spectacular. The Credits with backround screen and music really finished that all. Right up there with Halo:CE credits feel. Also loose and cleaned storyline isnt good either. Halo3 story felt irrational when enemy Prophet and his troops changed completely, half of Covenant who joined me at end of Halo2 were enemies again and such. Just illogical and unexplained changes made me feel disconnected from Halo 2 sequel, Halo Trilogy end. Bad. I hope Splinter Cell won't go to that. Cleaning all unclear connections to past. That would be the most lethal strike to series. Good story covers some other problems but if story sucks too, then theres no reason to check next game. First 3 games werent that attaching, just good fun. Likely I would have stopped playing them after 5 games. DA really got me interested to story and i hope it just improves along rest of the game. Story writers have hard time deciding what to use as base and how to clean that so it feels connected to all other games and to all players. Oh and i accidentally protected the other bomb which caused LA to explode. Theres something to explain This message has been edited. Last edited by: kalle90, |

I hope they go with the 360 version as cannon if they're going to use DA. Sam couldn't realistically beat the charges that are against him after the xbox version.
Sam murdered a splinter cell in cold blood that was following orders. That alone would put Sam's butt on death row for murder and treason. Sam's personal feeling don't justify his actions. Enrica was just as guilty as the rest of the JBA. At the very least Sam would get life in prison. I can see Sam clear himself from the Xbox 360 endings. Not the xbox ending though(at least not credibly). |

Maybe, but partially just that decicivity and awakening of Sam was the thing i liked. From start he had to question his and NSA's job and in the end he was just ready to take on the entire agency. A real betrayal crowned with the kill of Splinter Cell. Really just 1 man with vision against a country, like Bourne-Prison Break awesomeness. But i don't know anything about 360 version and it might be better to continue from that. I just hope Ubi doesnt forget there's other version and just continue straight from 360 story. If during game i see conversation saying that when I! shot Lambert, without any believable explanation, im going to think WTF! Just tie the 2 versions together as well as possible, still making the own unique Conviction story as good as possible. And could Original Montreal-360 Shanghai production affect?
