I was looking on xbox.com, and i saw that AC2 only had display options up to 720p!! Why is this??? AC1 had all the way up to 1080p!! Why would the downgrade!! Any input??

If you check on the thread called all we know about ACII it says in the first page that ACII on xbox 360 will support up to 720p while the PS3 version will support full 1080p.

before anyone bashes me on this, I am a 360 fanboy if anything.

The xbox 360 does not broadcast a 1080p signal. it will only produce true 720p. anything in 1080 is upscaled. and unless you have a 42"+ TV; you can't tell anyway.

Look, it's assassins creed, im sure not gonna be bying it based on the pixels it can show, but luckily, I have a ps3 to play it on.

Give me a link in which a developer says that the PS3 version will be 1080p, and the xbox 360 is not.

If there isn't, any developer reading this care to shed some light on this please?

Also if this proves to be true (which I still highly doubt), how much better will it look?

ac1 was run native in 720p, ac2 is using the same engine so i dont see how it could run at 1080p unless it is just upscaling. most high graphically quality games on ps3 run at 720p (ac1, killzone 2, uncharted 1, 2, infamous, etc.) so i wouldn't worry about it. i really don't think 1080p games will be the norm until the next generation of consoles. regardless, have you even seen the preview videos of ac2, the graphics look amazing..

actually the games that have been coming out for PS3 have been terribly optimised due to the learning curve on programming for it (unlike the 360 were it's basically windows) so the same engine can produce much higher quality with extra optimisation, so it is likely from the first AC game and PoP game that they have had more experience with the PS3 and this engine (as a company) allowing them to to gain information allowing them to optimise their code so it will run at higher detail.

it has been said in the past by developers that games on the PS3 are only as good as the developer as the PS3 has a lot of power if used properly but they are estimating 2 or 3 years before people get to that level. look at the technical demo's for GT5 (a PS3 only in-house game) they have it running natively at 1080p and also did a demo with it running at 2160p.

both consoles are capable of 1080p (the PC hardware they are modified from can support it easy) it's all about how the games are optimised, microsoft force firms to run certain graphics options (ones that eat a lot of GPU power) and this is why they rarely ever see past 720p as a native res, if MS relaxed their production rules 1080p games would be on the 360 as well. (instead of the upscaled stuff they do now)

Eww...that game looked terrible. Especially compared to the company you grouped it in with. Didn't even run all that well...

Judging is not so simple.
The only way to get real results is to test the game on your TV.

That said, the game should look fine at 720p, since most games run at that setting.

work on this theory (since I know most 360 people have played this) if you think Halo 3 looked good AC2 will look better as Halo 3 only runs at around 640.

I have AC1, and on the back, it shows up to 1080p. I am just wondering why, even if they did upscale it in AC1, they did not do so for AC2??

PS3 says 1080p on the Official Playstation website last time I checked. Maybe it's changed it was a while ago.

thats the upscaled res of AC1...I highly doubt it broadcasts in 1080p...I have Halo 3 ODST, which I know does not broadcast in 1080p, right here and it says 1080p on the back...false advertising

MS put the upscale values on every box instead of the native res, the native res is only ever shown on PS3 box's as they only list what the software is designed to run at.
