Do I just wander about the lab for hours or is there an interaction somewhere?

use eagle vision in the bedroom and everywhere else....and ad spoilers to the title of this thread.

And now I go! Ahhhh

After the cutscene (the Eagle Vision one with the writing) you can go back into the Animus and load up any "Memory Block" you want...

Other than that... you could try going blind by looking out of the windows in the lab...
