K, I know this has probably come up before, but anticipating the release of AC2, I've been replaying the first installment, and can't help but wonder: Who does Vidic mean when he says that all the discoveries were gifts from "those who came before." I'm up late bothered by trying to find a good answer to this one question. My roommates think aliens, though I'm in favor of an ancient civilization, such as the Atlanteans (Yunagoni)... What do you guys think? Please help!
thats why i think Yonaguni/Yunagoniis a good setting for the 3rd game they can have a very civilized nation, just cut off from the enviroment. they say they don't wanna go back, before AC 2 becouse players have then experienced so much fun it would be sad to go back and don't have a banking system and more in other words a less civilized times but in Yonaguni/Yunagoni they can pretty much make up a nation that is really advanced. even having that technoligy, the piece of eden and the other Artefacts

no it wasnt solved. but you do learn more about them
'Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils' - Louis Hector Berlioz
it was solved at the end of Halo 3 Tony if u got the side audio missions
but on topic, the ones who came before to me seemed just like the Templars taking other civilizations secrets and adding it to their own to make a sort of "library" of knowledge
Thanks Blemin, super good article. I'm still can't stand the ancient astronaut theory though. It just doesn't feel like assassin's creed. If they had been created by aliens, then I think Abstergo would be trying harder to contact the aliens, rather than focusing so hard on finding what they'd supposedly left behind. I really think it's an atlantean kind of thing. Can't wait to find out! Thanks for your posts guys, it's good to know not everyone thinks it's all about aliens.
Aliens?! Nah, my guess is the ancient civilizations (Yonaguni, Atlantis, Mayans maybe) cuz I read on assassins creed wikipedia that 'those who have gone before' or something like that, are the ancient civilizations...which supposedly they built the piece of eden, and possibly many other dangerous objects and gadgets...t
oh my bad there, no Mayans...because of my excessive weed smoking, I might say things that make no sense, thus sounding dumb ...lets just say that they are the ancient civilizations and leave it at that ...(to avoid further mistakes of course )
I think that the a plausible possibility would be that the artifacts could have come from a number of ancient civilizations (Think Ancients, in stargate, only without the aliens...) perhaps, yunagoni, atlantis, the mayans, and others...

off topic the forerunners is solved in Halo 2 i think my brother is a huge halo fanatic but if you are talking about who like were the forerunners them selves as people or what civilation are they im not sure about the people but i know what civilization sorry for typos
the foreunners are the ones who made the Halo rings and were wiped out before this happened, then the covenant came and believed they were Gods and that was the portal to salvation. It was solved in Halo 3
I've heard people insisting that it has to be the "Lizard People" that everyone seems to think exist!, and honestly i'm soooooo fed up with that rubbish! I think "The ones who came before" are most likely one of the ancient civilizations and not "Lizard" people. I thought it could have been the people from Atlantis, but it's just a guess.
EDIT: Sorry if you believe they exist i just find it ridiculous.
