the absence of a particular feature in any game isn't necessarily a question of negligence; sometimes it just comes down to priorities

does it mean that they had to cut out features because of the lack of space on the single dvd for the 360? (don't want to start a flame war though)

While a lot of users are now reporting the game update to be successful - at least with respect to the freezing issue - please do not forget that some of us are still left with an unplayable game that freezes up within minutes of playing. Even after the update.

Please please please Ubisoft. Give us some kind of update on whether another patch is being prepared? Or at least acknowledge that there is still an issue.

It's just so wrong how you choose not to keep us updated. And yes, I have tried going through the more official channels as well (phoned support, created an incident etc. No reply!).

$90 spent more than 3 weeks ago (PS3 games are expensive where I come from), and I'm still to enjoy even 5 minutes of gameplay with AC. What a rip off!

I launched the game for the first time today, since the patch has been released. The game froze at the first blue loading screen, I couldn't even play a minute. Good job Ubi, to wait so long for this...

So it seems the patch isn't working for some people.
So after a rushed game, we got a rushed patch.
This gets on my nerves: I (we) have paid a pricey cost to get what? a faulty game?

But for me what it is really annoying is the lack of subtitles ( Smile again).
I am considering sending emails to some game sites (e.g. like ign, kotaku and so on) to inform the mass audience about the AC scandal.
I am also considering sending emails to some member of the US congress and associations that particularly care about violation of human rights (e.g deaf rights).
I found Ubisoft's attitude offending.
How can a certain group of people understand a story driven game? Reading a costly guide while playing the game? I only have two eyes!
Please I am asking to everyone of you who are experiencing problems to help me: if you know some member of the congress or associations (e.g. for deaf people) please tell me.

Bye

P.S. I am not the only one longing for subtitles:

and this is just one of thousand examples.

Yeah, I agree. A letter to congress? Yeah, s/he may enjoy reading that, right before s/he goes and writes another anti-gaming article. . .

Yeah.. Congress is going to legislate that videogame developers have to put in subtitles. I'll bet they'll even force Ubisoft to release a patch just for you with subtitles for AC.

Quit whining and buy games that meet your standards - don't expect every product to meet your personal standards, cause its never going to happen, and you'll be constantly disappointed.

Christ, I'm handicapped with a bad leg, and I don't expect everyone to kowtow to me and what I want, or I'd be complaining because there aren't moving walkways everywhere. Hey, when you're getting that patch legislated by Congress, can you mention that for me?

There are no "RIGHTS" associated with video games. Video games are entertainment. If you had any kind of platform to stand on you would already see every movie in the theaters forced to show subtitles at the bottom of the screen.

Get real, and read the Constitution and the Federalist papers before spewing what "rights" you may think you have. People with disabilities know what limitations they have and they reach down, grab a pair, and move on. In other words they deal with it. I was in artillery in the Marine Corps, so my hearing is shot too, do you see me demanding someone cater to me because of the condition of my hearing?

Do you think blind people should have a "right" to drive? Get real.

Those who say it cannot be done shouldn't interrupt the people doing it.

Dear MacSolidWorks,
you answered it by yourself:

There are movie theatres that offer captioned movies for the deaf/Hard of hearing. And if there are none in your earea, theres always the option of waiting for the Movie dvd to come out.

See, there are options, just like in any OTHER game you have the OPTION of turning off/on subtitles, except of course Assassin's creed.

About the congress thing, Sure it seems farfatched, but Ubisoft pretty much stole our money. You exchange money for services, if the consumer feels as though they didnt recieve those services we have every right to take action.

Although Congress will probably do nothing, People should report them to the BBB, they always investigate.

So go "do it", whatever you're doing, and stop whining about it here.

I'm sure that if you call customer service and ***** and moan enough, they'll give you a refund or credit or something.

I guess people with poor vision should complain because not every book is published in a large print edition?

Try deleting your game data (not the save data, unless you dont care about that), rebooting the PS3, and letting it create a new game data file on the hard drive with the patch.

as for me , i've updated AC and what can i tell? hmm the game didn't freez even once (I played 3-4 h ?) but its far from working smooth ;/ it has like 20fps ? or some times less than that , before i updated my copy the game worked quite smooth , rarely i noticed so low framerate, you have to do something with it, and the screen tearing is enoying too, and what i've noticed? the pople in the game "like" to apear sudden, when i was entering the city (sth around 300meters in the game from the main entrence) ppl started to poping out of nowhere , same goes for trees and other smaller objects, (reduced draw distance ?) it looks almost like in gta SA on PS2,i'm wondering what was better - playing the game which is smoothe and which like to freeze from time to time , or looking at a non stoping slide show whith unexpected pop-up-peasant suprise
ps. sorry for any miskates, i'm not as fluent in english as i should be
greetings from POLAND Smile

The thing is not all DVD movies have subtitles on them, my wife has a hearing loss in one ear so we always use them when they are available.. Most DVDs will call out if they have subtitles on the box, I use Netflix so it is a crapshoot for us if they will have subtitles or not.

As for Ubisoft stealing peoples money, were subtitles ever a feature that was listed? I know it says nothing about subtitles on my box, in fact none of my games list subtitles as a feature. If they said subtitles were included on the box and they were not then I could see an issue.

I believe a deaf person should be able to take the game back to the store, I can't imagine too many store managers would refuse a refund or at least store credit once the situation was explained.

Oh and the BBB does absolutely nothing, all they can do is note your complaint and request a response from the company. They have no power to change anything. They are best used if you are hiring someone to redo your kitchen or landscape your yard. With a big project like that you can see if the company you work with has a habit of stiffing customers or not following through on their jobs. How many people honestly check the BBB rating of a software company before buying a video game?
