Oh please, subtitles should be the last thing they should focus on, if ever. Why do you want them so bad? I know I never, ever use subtitles and turn them off immediately if they are there, but even if I did want them I don't see how I could possibly consider them more important than fixing freezing/tearing/glitches >_>

"It is better to be silent and seem to be an idiot, than to start talking and dispell all doubts"...
You just said, that he don't dare to enjoy the game...
Many people can't understand everything if they're from spain for example.
And the story can't be understood without english knowledge.
Even those, who's main language is English don't seem to understand the story!
And AC without the story is not that cool.
Such an ignorant person...
If YOU don't need something, doesn't mean EVERYONE doesn't need it...
So please let those people enjoy the game.
Have a nice day...

the patch has so far worked for me! (I'm from the UK). The game used to crash at least once every time i started up the game, but so far i haven't had another freeze/crash. I hope it isn't just a coincidence....

Umm, let me see... why might people want subtitles... Ohh, i know... Perhaps he's hard of hearing? Or can't understand the spoken dialog for some other reason? Despite what you think, not everyone is perfect like you.

I have a few friends who are deaf, and were really psyched about this game but have hardly played it because of the long unskipable dialog sequences without subtitles. This is never normally a problem because practically EVERY video game in existence has subtitles. Then this one great game that my friend actually bought a PS3 to play comes along and doesn't have subtitles. It's almost a game breaker for him.

Despite subtitles being for those with impairments I also love subtitles, and my hearing is perfect. In movies they distract me, but in a games I find subtitles make it easier to follow and more enjoyable in general.

Not including subs in this game was a really bad decision. But even without them they should have at least made the dialog sequences skipable, it would make the game so much more appealing for those who can't hear or understand. They'd still miss out on the great story, but at least they could play the game without getting frustrated and shutting it off.

Also, who said they were more important than fixing the freezes?

Like lostassassin said; It's better to be presumed a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Oh great, the patch comes out the day after I complete the game Frown

Tested it for a about 30mins and it seems to run a little smoother and I've had no loading problems or freezing either.

Doubt I'll play through the game again though so its too little too late Ubi Frown

Let me express my dissatisfaction with Ubisoft's attitude.
This if my first time that I feel cheated and saddened because of a software house.
I have been hoping till the release of the patch that the three or four issues had been taken seriously into account and been addressed. Unfortunately this was untrue.
A user, some posts above, said we honest customers should get used to these dishonourable behaviours of powerful companies.
Unfortunately he is right, we cannot do anything; re-selling the game or bringing it back to the shop are not definitive solutions.
The customers that are aware about the flaws are just a minority. The average gamer says: "Oh please, subtitles should be the last thing they should focus on, if ever. Why do you want them so bad?" so I can understand why Ubisoft has never shown much interest in resolving this Assassin's Creed matter once and for all.
They have spent millions to use those middleware tools so who cares about the subtitle option or tearing: the important thing is that the game is stable and playable for the majority of time.
I find this behaviour really arrogant and unfair.
But who cares: I spent my money!
What a huge disappointment.

Still wanting the REAL patch, Ubisoft!!

Patch features list:

- subtitles (not addressed)
- stable framerate (partially addressed in 1.10)
- changing languages in game (not addressed)

hey,
I've been following this thread (and the other PS3 AC threads from day one, and just wanted to say: I got the patch, and I have no freezes SO FAR. I tried it for two sessions (several hours each), and it works fine, fingers crossed. The framerate is still horrible, BUT I have stereo sound on my headphones (no kidding, I didn't have it before)!
All in all, the freezing patch is OK, thanks for it, now please work a bit more on the things mentioned before (framerate issues, screen tearing, subtitles, the ability to skip the movies, AND freeroam endgame). If these will be implemented, we all will be very happy, thanks in advance Smile
ps. I feel sorry for those who still have the freezes (after the patch I mean).

I do not own Assassin's Creed yet and I am waiting to buy it when a patch resolves the listed issues.

However what I have been noticing is people wanting both screen tearing and framerates fixed. This is not as easy as it sounds, as improving one degrades the other
e.g. If you turn v-sync on, the tearing will be resolved but the framerates will drop. Turn v-sync off and the tearing appears whilst the framerates will increase.

Hopefully Ubisoft can improve both aspects as I am becoming impatient and desperately want the game, but I am also reluctant to buy a half finished title. Confused

Since I patched my game it hasn't frozen, which is good, it's little late now that I've finished it, but yeah, if I play it again I'm sure I won't get frustrated with it...

Subtitles may not seem that important, but I know even from my own house my Dad can't play the game (he's a bit hard of hearing), he only gets time to play very early in the morning, and he can't hear the voices without waking everyone in the house up. He loves a half-decent Sci-fi story, and won't play a game without knowing what's going on, so it's a major let-down for him. I can only imagine the disappointment of someone deaf/hard of hearing finding out the game doesn't have subtitles, especially when they are pretty standard nowadays. (I don't think any other game I have doesn't have them, at least for the story-related information anyway).

It also seems a strange (almost stupid) decision to not have included a free-roam mode (yeah, I know you can replay memories, but listening to Al Mualim yarn on for 5 minutes about something I've heard 5 times before is pointless and an utter waste of time), or the option to skip cutscenes, it completely takes away any notion of "I'll just mess around for a few minutes", because that's how long you have to wait before you can play it...

Also, where is the Dualshock3 rumble support, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Resistance: FOM (PS3 only games), and every other game I have has support for it, and Assassin's Creed has a Xbox360 equivalent (that has shock) and it's not there... Just seems like a pointless omission, you're going to have to put it in sooner or later.

It's a good game, but it's lacking some MAJOR polish.

OK...just installed the update...and I just assassinated the second guy in Jerusalem. At the beginning of the "Blue Room" cutscene, it begins, but then suddenly Altair is falling one of those "endless fall" type things. Now he's frozen in mid fall and all i can do is change the camera angle. That never happened before I installed the update. Any ideas?

Ubisoft you're breaking my balls with this game, it ran better without the patch.

If I delete it and reinstall it will it require me to install the patch or will I be able to play the 1.00 bulid again?

Ugh, I knew it was too good to be true to have a satisfying patch. Ubi, it looks like you need more than a month to fix every single issue. I still haven't recieved my patch yet Angry Blue Guy
